But in the real world as is stated above

FWIW, these “make belief” scenarios happen nearly every draft.

Meaning, you see teams absolutely reach on need versus taking the best player/prospect.

And, as pointed out earlier, that’s why you get the Devin White’s instead of the Josh Allen’s.

Bruce Arians describes that pick as the BPA pick and Josh Allen as a the need pick

POINT:  all picks are sort of balancing the two and people often use the descriptors "BPA" and "need" as a way to promote or deride the pick depending on the outcome. Tristan Wirfs was a NEED pick but he would be described as a need who was also BPA

“The tape speaks for itself,” Arians said of White. “People say we need a pass rusher? He’s pretty good at that. And we do like to blitz up the middle, and quarterbacks don’t like pressure up the middle. He fits everything we want as a human being and a football player. I couldn’t be more excited. I probably said six weeks ago, ‘This is our guy.’”

LATER ON you can findArians addressing the "need" pick head on so he knows lol

Good GMs help get the players their coach wants. Coaches fall in love with players . . . or maybe its something about pick #5

"Gruden walked up to Williams right before he was about to run the 40-yard dash and said, `Hey Cadillac, come here. I don't really care what you run in this 40. If you're there at the fifth pick, I'm taking you.'

White was never BPA compared to Allen.

Devin was a perceived need pick, because Kwon hit FA.

And, ironically, we got Kwon 2.0

Thats the point.

Arians is the "genius" and Bowles his"low IQ" successor . .  but Arians is 10000% behind the White pick even though he is "sensitive" to it being a need pick, so much so that suggests Allen is the need pick.

Wirfs is an actual need and he's the third (?) tackle off the board. I think Vernon Hargreaves is the third CB? maybe second

The outcome often drives the title ("need" or BPA") and thats because the reality is the two concepts often intersect (Bill Polian "we needed him just enough"). The Packers dont use a premium pick on a QB while Favre is killing it, until he's on the back end and they take Rodgers.

All teams are considering NEED, especially with cap constraints. Fans use the terms as surrogates for "good": and "bad"

Biggs, do you remember when you guys posted Coen's comments about Rachaad White being RB1?

I can find that for you.  It's in that thread where you trolled for 3/4 of the season  . .  based on a LIE

Need a tissue?

Oh, and you are absolutely precious if you don’t think Todd had any say or input into that pick.

you mean where you know how the players career is going to play out?  lol re-read your hypothetical.

Yeah if i am picking a known HOF or a known bust....we are all picking the HOF...shit, we can even trade them if we have 2 HOF at say...QB

but that isn't the real world my friend

so you have two players perceived to be great. One is at WR projected to go between 15 and 20 and the other is an ILB or CB projected to go 20-30; is it really a reach if they go based off of need there?  what say you?

DH, you have also implied Arians is a "genius," if not posted it outright. I gave you credit for that, but you don't like credit for "low IQ?"

Depending on my grades (not where I think they’ll get drafted), I’m taking the higher ranked player in a majority of the situations.

You’re right. My apologies.

Should never have insulted the HC that you claim is capable of winning us a SB.
