It’s now been five years since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers redesigned their uniforms so they could look more like a team out of “Star Wars” than the NFL.
I was working on the set of NFL Network’s Total Access as a researcher when Warren Sapp and Gerald McCoy joined the show to unveil the new helmet and uniforms back in 2014. My initially reaction was blah. I felt the team was trying too hard with this redesign. The jersey numbers immediately made me think of the numbers on my alarm clock.
