I feel like we are building up our offensive line so that we will not use an early pick there. We have below level talent at edge rusher and Bowles creating pressure through disguises only last so long. The more you blitz, the more teams are prepared. The more you can sprinkle in blitzes the better, but to do that we must be able to get pressure with 4. We do not have the personnel to do that at this time.
The later we draft an edge rusher in the first round the more likely that player will be doomed to be the next JTS. Sitting at the 19th pick we are just about as far back as we can be to grab an edge that could do anything for us this year. In years past a team could still draft an offensive tackle or safety in the 2nd or 3rdor even 4th rounds that could step in and give you good starting reps. That’s not going to happen with an edge player.

The key phrase in that clip is "in years past".
offensive line seems pretty weak to me.
We have a potential HOF with Tristan Wirfs and not much else.
Ryan Jensen is a solid piece but in his age 32 season, coming off huge injury, how will he perform?
Those are the two hold overs from the elite offensive line of 2020, 2021. We then have Nick Leverett, Luke Goedeke, Matt Feiler, Robert Hainsey, Brandan Waltan, Aaron Stinnie. To me, these are all "just another guy" s. Offensive tackle seems like a huge need and almost a must in the first round.
I would go as far as to say the only offensive pick we should use in the first 4 rounds is OT in the first. Then i agree, that the next 3 should be DL, Edge, and ILB.
We have Vea and not much else on the line. Jury is out on Hall
We have an aging David, a recovering Shaq, a disgruntled White, and a JAG in JTR in the LB/Edge group so let's focus on that
We seem pretty solid in the secondary with Davis, Dean, and AWJ; perhaps a pick at safety but really the needs are OT, DL, Edge, and ILB.
any other pick in the first 4 rounds would be stupid.
Don't reach. Take BPA.
The Oklahoma OT is compared to Donovan Smith (yikes) and that feels like a reach.
Don't take a TE. Don't take a RB.
At this point I'd even be ok with the Iowa LB (sadly).
Nolan Smith is my preferred target
@firelicht2020 - I agree. And I like Nolan Smith at 19. That’s been my play since the the National Championship Game.
I feel good about the Bucs going OT and edge rusher in the first three rounds. Not sure which order though because Bowles can do a lot with a Nolan Smith type of player. And yeah I don't think the Bucs can afford to wait past round three to address OT.
The depth of safety and TE ensures that the Bucs should strongly consider drafting each position with their 5th round picks.
For the 6th and 7th round picks I hope the Bucs try to nab some guys that can actually help special teams for a change in the return game. Too many times the Bucs try to duct tape the return game and it hasn't been a legit threat for this team for a while.
Given all the needs do they trade down?
If they can trade down I think they should given the salary cap crunch is going to make it hard to fill out the roster and depth chart properly to compete.
I think SR’s draft is trying to hard to fill needs in order or priorities and it’s hurting the values. Harrison is more of a 2nd round talent and Hall is more of a 3rd or 4th round talent. If the top 3 OTs are gone it will be a bad idea to draft OT just because of need. That’s how you can kill a whole draft.
The Bucs have not given out any clues, but the one curious visit was Bijan Robinson. He only visited two teams and the Bucs were one of them. I don't think the Bucs would bring him in for no reason. I think the reason is to make other teams think they need to move up to get him, possibly trading with the Bucs. That could be a sign the Bucs are trying to trade down. It's a stretch, but the question remains why was the Bucs one of only two teams to bring in Bijan Robinson?
if they believe goedeke is a legit RT I would love a trade down. But I’d strike a 1st rd OL.Given all the needs do they trade down?
some folks are not gonna like hearing you speak about Harrison like that. He’s an interesting case, some mocks have him off the board early, most others have Him on the 1st/2nd border. And remember, the top 3 OTs were gone when we drafted wirfs.I think SR’s draft is trying to hard to fill needs in order or priorities and it’s hurting the values. as for the PR mock, I hear what you are saying, but it still sounds pretty good. I don’t see Laporta that late, but on paper I’m thrilled with that draft.
@gametime - I don’t like the comparisons to the 2020 draft. That’s more of the one off than norm. And those 4 tackles were all ranked on top of one another. Not so much with this group.
@ehinote what rankings do you use? From the little I’ve seen it was pretty close with all 5 of them. Skoronski graded highest but thought to slide inside. Then some combo of Johnson, Jones, Wright with Harrison just behind.
