can't believe some guy got paid to put this together.
These mock draft guys are more positioning off talent/ranking evaluations than team need. They aren't, for example, seeing the Bucs other DT position, NT as anything more than currently having a rookie in Spence there. They know the Bucs need pass rushers/dlinemen, this guy is the next best dlineman, so they slot him there. There are some guys, like Walterfootball, who study team needs and slot guys where they should be. And theres others who know certain teams better than others. Looking at this draft, if the picks played out like this I'd have to say Watkins would be my choice as well. He's actually very high on my wishlist overall -with Bridgewater out of reach, I would want to hope Clowney falls in the draft or we are in position to get Barr. I'd then think Watkins next as he adds that much more to our offense.

I think our wish lists are very similar. I dont disagree with your first paragraph, but then what is the point of doing them? Every team has a few holes you could plug someone in, but at least make sure the need matches the pick.

Valid. I guess I feel I would take a little more pride in my work if my job was to do mock drafts. Oh well...bring on Clowney/Barr/Watkins
My top 3 at the number 7 pick would be Watkins, Lewan or CJ Mosley. Assuming that Clowney and Barr are off the board already. Mack scares me because of the talent level teams that Buffalo plays against.
It would be just the Bucs' luck that after another craptastic year we will be picking right after all the elite talent comes off the board
Ok, the OP is an "old" mock draft. The new one, same website, same author is up (13 hours after the "old" one). Nix goes to the Steelers at #12. Jake Matthews goes to the Bucs at #7.New link: http://fansided.com/2013/12/17/2014-nfl-mock-draft-week-16/
DT, WTF? Seriously even if you aren't sold on Spence spending a high R1 on a guy to play NT is epically stupid it would be like drafting a non-coverage S really high......
Like around the 7th overall pick?
Another garbage mock smh

I also usually subscribe to that theory, but was at the UGA game last year when Mack went wild. He did so again this year against Ohio St. Dude can ball.
hypothetical.... Bridgewater declares and somehow falls into our lap... do we pull the trigger? Barr, Matthews, Clowney gone...
Yea no DT please. I'd go with Lewan, Watkins, or (dare I say it) Manziel.
I like your thinking! Absolutely.
Houston - BridgewaterSt Loius - MathewsOak - ClowneyJax - CarrATL - BarrCLE - Manziel TB - Pick should be Watkins...we select Mack.If Schiano returns his desire to rush 4 and cut back on the stunts coupled with his defensive background set the backdrop for this pick. Couple that with Watkins pot incedent and this seems like the way we go. Mack is very aggressive, and would play Sam on run down and rush on passing downs...I guess. I like the player, but I'm not sure how he will look at DE. Plus drafting an Sam OLB in the first round is on par for drafting a SS in the first.
