According to reports, Lavonte David ranked 5th in Pro Bowl voting for OLBs. Which would be enough to be selected to the Pro Bowl, as the Top-6 travel to Hawaii. We also know how highly the media think of David as he was selected to the All-Pro Team, and it was unanimous. The only way David could've been snubbed, which he was, is by the players and coaches who also get 1/3 of the vote. So before, we criticize the fans for voting poorly, we should really be criticizing the players and coaches, who clearly don't think too much of their co-players while voting blindly. Maybe, David being only the 5th best OLB is an issue, but if only the fans votes counted in the Pro Bowl selection, Lavonte David would currently be in Honolulu.
The player's knowledge of who are the best players in the league is overrated imo. They aren't paying much attention to other guys. You often hear that many of them don't even watch other teams play unless it's on film. I also think a good amount of players don't even bother voting. The Pro Bowl is stupid but I think it should be voted on by 1/3 players, 1/3 media, and 1/3 coaches and front office personnel. Also, coaches and front office guys shouldn't be allowed to vote for guys on their own team.

I agree with this - I think you'd be shocked how little players know about other players (that they don't regularly face).

I don't know if its overrated, its just that they don't really care. They vote for their "friends" and who they know. They vote for all the so-called stars they've heard of. They don't know too much about rookies and they don't get it right. I personally think that the media should just vote for the Pro Bowl and they can make it a game that will be played by the All-Pro Team. Obviously they would have to name a complete 2nd team for this to work but at least all deserving players would be rewarded.
Yeah, as was mentioned above the players are just as ignorant as the average fan. Sure, guys on the offenses of our division rivals I'm sure are well aware of his talent, but as a whole they're too busy worrying about their team and next week's matchup to really notice under the radar guys. They fall for name recognition just as we do...remember when they named Tebow in the top 100 players?

Exactly. And then Jimmy Graham was not on last year's list.
I buy in that the players are either ignorant of other players, or have biases... our guys that made it have big name recognition. Revis speaks for himself, McCoy has the name and draft status (in addition to being one of the best DT). David's name recognition is next-to-nothing, aside from the Jets play, and the mentions from talking heads who mention him like he's an under-the-radar guy vice a qualified star. Then the stigmas we have as a team work against a guy like David who are otherwise deserving... nothing but terrible media coverage, disliked coach, small market, etc. You'd hope the coaches have enough brain power to realize what a beast the guy is. I'd expect the players to have their own personal and team biases going. Either way this has to be one of the biggest snubs I can remember. The dude had numbers almost identical to Urlacher's when he won DPOY, probably more TFL.
Just saw Ahmad Brooks dropped out but Orakpo is in ahead of Lavonte. Wow, smfh.

It's tough to understand this crap...
So that just had a live fan vote on NFL Live for DPOY and Lavonte David wasn't even an honorable mention or nominee out of seven players. Ha

Who were the 7 players?
All pro vote means everything. Pro bowl means less every year to me.I'm not shocked that CJ2idiot would snub David as he still thinks he's a valuable player in this league which is obviously delusional.
I was wondering if people don't know who David Lavonte is?
