Martin was inconsistent as a rookie and was outplayed by Rainey this year before heading onto IR.  Rainey ran behind basically the same o-line so it wasn't like Martin had a disadvantage.  Martin's contract is up in 2015 so he has to have a big season in 2014 and 2015 to be re-signed.  But drafting a RB in the first round is a huge opportunity cost so this is something teams have taken into consideration.

Martin is better than Blount period.  But we gave Blount a good player,  away for nothing.

True, but Blount didn't go on the trading block the day he was traded. There were 30 other teams who didn't feel his was worth more than that 7th rounder – right or wrong. Perfect system, accountability and leadership for him up there. And that offensive line played a tad better than the one down here. Personally I liked Blount, a decent locker room guy. But there were other issues the guy had here. And Schiano didn't make the call 100 percent by himself and it was done with the owners agreeing.

Regardless of who's at fault, it was a TERRIBLE decision.

Nearly 2000 yds from scrimmage was inconsistent? Guess trying to make a point is more important than facts and general common sense.

Hindsight always 20/20. Of course coaches and GMs are paid very well to see ahead. I posted on Twitter, imagine of Twitter were around when Steve Young was winning Super Bowls.

Even PR was wondering why Martin was running ahead of Blount for those first 3 games, Your  argument is horrible. He didn't light it up until later on and even then had a few down games.

The fact is that Martin was inconsistent as a rookie and went through a dry spell during his rookie year.  He has yet to show he is consistent.

Short memories around these parts. Call me LGB puts 2000 yds from scrimmage.

So it's totally acceptable to get rid of 1000 yard rushers for a 7th round draft pick..... Okayyyyy...... "Hindsight" lol

C'mon Doc, he was the 31st pick, not a top 10 guy. Look at the bright side, the Bucs could have traded up and gotten Trent Richardson lol. And I wouldn't say Martin was inconsistent, he did have almost 2,000 total yards. Plus even the biggest Blount fan would have to say he was/is one-dimensional. He had a whopping two receptions in 16 games this season this year, and that was with a coaching staff who "knows" how to use him.

people have very selective memories.  many of the same people who bemoan trading Young, were the same ones who hated him as QB for the Bucs.  I remember a ton of folks at the time seriously advocating making Young a RB.  Very few at the time thought the Bucs were making a mistake by trading him away.
