2nd round. Right school. Wrong player. Christian Jones to man the middle.
I would love to have Joyner be available for our second round pick. The mocks and projections I see have him all over the place. http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/mock-drafts/daniel-jeremiah/175601 Here is the first mock from DJ at NFL network. He has Joyner as a late first rounder so we'll see how he runs at the combine and everything. One thing to keep in mind is if we sign a FA CB like Tillman we probably will not be drafting a CB early because we will have a lot invested in the position. Count me in as a Joyner fan though and he does remind me of another scrappy nickle who wore #20...
A DB in the 2nd with all the holes Lovie needs to fill? Doubt it.
CB is a need too, granted not as high of a need as pass rushing DE but it is up there with our other needs. Alot depends on how the new regime views Glennon and what they want to do on the O-line. If we are sticking with Glennon and giving our high priced o-line another year then we won't take QB or OT in the early rds. In that case CB is right there with slot WR as a need.

he never ran the middle at FSU. a really good player of the edge. I see him more as a OLB in a 3-4 scheme.
I'm telling you guys. Joyner has those Ronde instincts in a slightly bigger and definitely more athletic body.
I'm leary about taking a 5'8 safety and converting him to corner .There's got to be a reason a guy that small wasn't playing corner to begin with. Probably because he struggles out there manned up with quicker guys.
he played both positions at FSU(CB early, then safety for 2 years and back to CB as a senior). we actually moved him to safety so we could get all our best athletes on the field at the same time in the secondary. i actually liked him better at safety, he was all over the place. remember what Bob Sanders was like for Indy? similar type player. he moved back to CB this past year to get his draft stock up. with his size limitations he thought he had a better shot to make it as a corner.

CB is one of the few spots on the team I am not worried about. Revis, Banks, Gorrer and Leonard. You can't have All Pro's at every position on the team.

i stopped listening after Banks. ;) Gorrer and Leonard? i dont feel good about our CB depth at all. Those are dime backs or special teams guys AT BEST yet we are an injury away from one of those 2 slappies starting. No thanks.
