Falcons mortgaged their future to build a high powered offense when they should have stuck to an efficient play action offense that Ryan is tailor made for.
Honestly, if he had schemes he would be a good coach. If he would hire autonomous OC and DC I think he would be able to maximise his NFL coaching career. He would have to shift his micromanagement to player development and talent acquisitions and stay away from the schemes and game plans. Highly doubtful that this would ever happen with an egomaniac like Schiano.
Yep. Schiano's strength is his leadership skills; he needs to leave the strategy to a DC and OC he trusts to find ways to actually WIN games, not worry about "who we are". Wannstedt appears to by far our most successful assistant!
lol @ "the fan base hates him" I remember when the fan base hated Gruden so he had to go. We are now finishing year 5 of the Glazers "rebuild through the draft plan" The fan base loved that song and dance. Gotta love "the fan base". Glazers should hire "the fan base"
The Bucs will be entering year 6 of rebuilding, with no hope no franchise QB, and a empty stadium."It's a Bucs life"
And yet this is a thread about a coach and not a GM. By the way, the wins this year came at the hands of the coach's QB while the GM's franchise QB is inactive for the Vikes. Makes sense...
In all the Bucs wins they got a gaggle of turnovers to win 2 close games (Mia & Det) & 2 blowout wins.
There's more pieces filled on the defense. Makes sense that it would be key to victories.

I wasn't defending the coach, I was wondering why no focus on the General
We can't pen anything on glennon in last game. The dude had his offensive line help their defense rape him. Might as well had handed them lube. But before that, and after the atl game, he's been average to downright freeman like. This staff sucks so much, it's almost impossible to gage players, but glennon just reeks of average so far.I'm all for letting him compete in front of a competent staff against jff or mariota, but do I trust him with the next season solely..hell no.

Good post, I pretty much agree. Glennon hasn't looked much worse or better than freeman did through 3 weeks. Only difference is Glennons propensity for turning the ball over is much less than free's boneheaded INT's every game
We still have to remember, free also had a season where he hardly threw any picks. It doesn't win anything though if he, or any other qb, can't take a risk and move the chains. Brees pretty much proves that theory, as he throws up picks all the time...and they let him do what he does.
The whole coaching search in the first place was totally bungled by the Glazers, and he was the ONLY guy who would take the job. WHo the hell else would take a job with Josh Freeman as the QB and anorganization that had little talent within it...........it really wont matter if they keep Shitano, they will be bad until the team gets sold. They have done the same thing with Man United, the team is really not good, they were too cheap to signany transfers and they are in eighth place 4 points above Effing South Hampton, a team that was just promoted, a disgrace.
So you forget that the glazers brought Tampa it's first Super Bowl? I agree not all of their decisions have been great but everyone has short memories and loves to call them cheap. Was posturing for Gru cheap? Hell no. Yea they promoted Heemy which definitely set this franchise back at least 5 years, but they were still paying gru a kings ransom because all of you 'fans' screamed to get gruden out. I think without Malcolm at the helm the glazer boys have some learning to do, even with Man U. So you know first hand schiano was the only guy who would take the job? Get real man and stop acting like you know the glazers moves like you are their family.

Brett Farve also threw a ton of picks...still holds the NFL record in that category if Im not mistaken. But then apply that same standard to Stafford and see what happens..... they lose 6 of 7 games and lead the NFL in turnovers over that period. So there is a lot more to it. Many of these QBs like Brees are in pass-first systems. So they do tend to throw a lot of picks but they also put up a bunch of big plays. Most QBs can't do that. QBs like Bree only come around a handful of times a decade. Right now the NFL favors that kind of QB immensely because the new rules under the Goodell era has given huge advantages to passing offenses. But the chances of finding a QB like that is like hitting the lottery jackpot. It's pure 100% luck. You can get the best coaches and best talent evaluators in here, and make a pick #1 overall every year and still never find that QB.
I see what you are saying cyber. However, if we're looking at it from a system prospective, wouldn't that mean glennon's comp percentage should be higher? Obviously we're run first, so shouldn't glennon be more accurate in a slower and more methodical system? And if we're talking Stafford, are we talking with or without tron?
I say Schiano is gone Monday or Tuesday unless they do something miraculous in the Saints game. I thought he should have been gone mid season. But they turned things around sort of, won a few, and looked to be improving. But now the last few weeks they've looked terrible and the offense has been worse than awful. Based on that, I think he and Dominik are history.
Very unlikely the Glazers bring Schiano back. After the shit storm at the start of the season and the money spent on this team they can't wait around and hope he does something next year. Ticket sales will be even worse next year if they do it.
They don't care about ticket sales if they're buying up the seats anyway, right?Would it be more money to kick schiano, or to pay for most of the tickets all throughout the next season?Win or lose the saints game, if the glazers keep schiano, they are retards or just flat out apathetic of the whole team. With this ownership, either is possible.
Schiano will ride out his contract for two reasons:1. The Glazers are cheap and unless Gruden or Dungy volunteer to coach the Bucs, Schiano's our guy.2. Schiano is helping lay the foundation for the Bucs future success with his disciplinary/attn to detail style of coaching. 2 more drafts and a franchise qb and we could have our pick of great HC candidates.
I'm not so sure. I think he could end up being fired. The fans aren't really behind this team. It's win now or never with the fans so I don't know if they have the patience to see if Schiano could do well with his guys. I think he's done.
