It's getting frustrating here because of all the poorly though out posts. This Bucs team is bad and has a number of issues. But some issues are continually raised without any facts or evidence to support them. Here are a couple:
1) McCoy is the best player on the Bucs not named Evans. He is one of the best DTs in the league. Evidence:
a) Opposing teams always emphasize how McCoy is the best player on the Bucs defence and someone they have to pay attention to at all times. Per MC.
b) While injured too much, McCoy is someone who works his ass off to get back on the field. He clearly cares deeply about this team. Per every local news outlet.
c) McCoy works diligently to improve his fellow Bucs on both offence and defence. He's focused on making the team better. Per PR.
d) McCoy has led all DTs in sacks the last 4 years. Per TNF.
e) McCoy isn't overpaid. 6 of the top 10 highest paid defensive lineman are DTs. And McCoy is paid 4th among those defensive tackles. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/defensive-line/
Just because you can't see big plays, doesn't mean that McCoy isn't disrupting or having other impacts on the game. And even then, the best players will disappear. I invite you to look at Sapp's gamelog and see games where he had 0 stats or just 1 tackle. What's amusing is that McCoy cares deeply about the Bucs, plays hard, is one of the best DTs in the league on a relatively team friendly contract.
2) Mike Smith is absolutely willing to blitz.
a) The latest data I could find, as of Oct. 19 the Bucs were 13th in blitzing on 27.6% of plays. That's above average. http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2016/10/eagles_have_blitzed_less_often_than_any_nfl_team.html
If Smith isn't blitzing now it's not because he isn't willing. It's because, rightly or wrongly, he doesn't think it works. I'd love to see evidence showing the Bucs aren't blitzing now or that blitzing was working. Otherwise, it's just an uninformed opinion.
3) Off-man is not a soft coverage. It's employed regularly around the NFL by every team.
a) Smith does press and has done so regularly with Hargreaves - although he is currently struggling as he adapts to the NFL. You can see many (big) plays here against Oakland with Hargreaves: https://youtu.be/R9mW4r655do?t=391
b) Grimes is not a press corner - he specializes in off-man and it makes no sense for him to press. If you want an actual scouting report: http://falcfans.com/scouting-report-brent-grimes-2644
c) The Bucs safeties are horrible which makes it very hard to press. It's not accidental that teams that employ a lot of press looks (SEA, MIN) have very good safeties.
----------------
There are a lot of legitimate reasons to criticize almost every aspect of the Bucs organization and team. Mike Smith deserves lots of criticism for what he's put on the field. And we can disagree on what exactly IS going wrong - I certainly don't have clear answers.
At the same time, there are some things that just aren't true. And arguing about them makes this board stupider and prevents real discussion of what is actually going wrong. Let's talk about that. For example:
Why aren't the Bucs getting more pressure? How do the Bucs overcome their poor safety play? What should they do schematically now that they haven't done before? Why is Winston struggling with his accuracy? Is the culture of losing harming the Bucs development of players? Why is the defence struggling to pick up and communicate Smith's defence?
