Some like JC are obsessed with firing the guy, but he's not going anywhere anytime soon
Without Brady
8-24 with Lovie
19-29 with Koetter
7-9 with Arians
Missed draft picks in the 1st-2nd round
#1 Winston
#5 White
#11 Hargreaves
#19 Howard
#38 ASJ
#39 Noah Spence
#50 Justin Evans
#53 MJ Stewart
#59 Robert Aguayo
#64 Kyle Trask
Be careful claiming victory at 3-1 when two of the teams we beat are combined 1-7.
Didn't you also say Wirfs would need to move to be guard in the NFL to fulfill his potential and that he shouldn't be drafted to play tackle? Now he's arguably the best tackle in the game at either position, lmao.
I said Wirfs would be a HOF guard pre-draft. I never said he couldn't play tackle but because of his frame he looked like a perfect guard.
I am surprised JC didnt go on some rant about Jensen . . especially when there is news on Jensen. This is Licht:
"“It’s awesome to have Ryan in [the O-line meetings) because he is rubbing off. He understands you have to have a tone-setter. Everybody thrives off of that.”
That loud noise you heard wasn't your cell phone, its was JC blowing a fuse.
Bucs are #32 in yards per carry. You're right, he's been an invaluable part of the team. Now you have me thinking that his $17.3M cap number next year is actually good value.

like that lol
Oh I definitely wanted him fire after that first season. releasing Revis signing collins and johnson releasing Penn who played a few more good years. But the man has developed himself and found the right coaching staff that knows how to develop players. Licht if you reading this really impressive job youre the man, and possibly has helped changed the culture of Tampa Bay football just as much as Arians
Licht has improved... I still think he's had the benefit of a loooooong leash.
Most GMs would not have survived his first 5 years
But he's gotten better for sure... and getting Brady certainly extended his leash
Most GMs would not have survived his first 5 years
It's a fair point, but I think most Buc GMS do. I say that because of the circumstances being mostly driven by the Glazers and NOT him and they knew that.
The Glazers hired Lovie before Licht, so there are two of the five years, and the Glazers (despite the way it was portrayed to the public) were definitely behind Winston, which leads to Koetter etc.
All the while, Licht is bringing in some decent players and then, of course, he's is SOLELY responsible for Arians then Brady etc.
He has a good argument that he'd done better if the Glazers would just stay out of his way.
anyway, just another way to look at it
Yeah that's true. He did inherit a mess.
(There's a Republican dig in there somewhere)
If anything, good or bad, at least you can say we have a stable GM who can draft moderately well. it seems like every bad team changes their GM every 2 to 3 years.
all licht has to do is keep drafying good o great players, really.
I told you to be careful claiming victory at 3-1.
Licht has been awful drafting lately.
And so far it looks like the last draft isn't great... Kancey might be good but I don't think he will be effective against the run.
We just haven't seen the impact plays lately... he did get a steal it seems with Palmer.
Kancey is going to be a good player I think we nailed it. Its been a few games and he's already made more an impact than Joe Tryon in terms of getting after the QB.
Palmer is a keeper, guy has been open all year we just have not been able to hit him. Mauch is average right now but could turn into a good player - time well tell. Pleased with the rookies this year.
Right now the glaring issues on offense is bad run blocking and ability to score TD's. With Brady at qb we're most likely 5-1 even without a run game.
Mauch has been bad.
Kancey has been hurt and sucks against the run because he's undersized
JTS is soft
Hall just sucks
Hainsey regressed
Goedeke looks better
He's drafting poorly lately... ever since Wirfs and Winfield fell in his lap
"The good news for the Bucs is that general manager Jason Licht and assistant G.M. Mike Greenberg have decided to swallow their salary cap medicine this year and get well for next year. Saddled with $75 million in dead cap money this season, including $35 million due to Tom Brady, the Bucs were cap-strapped in free agency this year and had to do a lot of bargain shopping, which restricted Licht’s ability to add more talent.
"But Tampa Bay’s cap space goes from being one of the worst this year to one of the best, thanks to the Bucs’ decision to bite the bullet this year. Tampa Bay is slated to have $61,372,644 in cap room next year, which is the 11th most in the NFL."
What’s killed us is the whiffs on the o line and d line in the draft.
vea and wirfs have been outliers, too early to say on kancey and mauch but between jts Logan hall hainsey just to name a few we’ve invested a lot of picks with little to show on either unit. Our OT is above average. Still unable to rush the passer without blitzing.
losing marpet prematurely & jensens injury sure stings on the OL/run game.

Spotrac has it as $48M but only 33 players on the roster and no starting QB.
