im curious to see who you guys would take if you could make 1 change to our drafts going back to 2010 until now. I'll set a couple ground rules so we dont get crazy
1. You can only swap one player in either round 1 or 2
2. You have to select a different player taken ONLY in those rounds. no diamonds in the rough (Josh Norman, Russell Wilson)
3. It has to be a player that was actually on the board when we picked. for example no Cam Newton or JJ Watt since they were off the board when we picked.
4. Let's also assume we didnt make that absolutely retarded trade for Darrelle Revis
id like to see how everyone here would have built the team differently.
Heres mine
2010 - This one is easy. id love to swap both players but since i have to choose only one I am swapping Brian Price for Rob Gronkowski. If i could do both id grab TJ Ward
2011 - This one is harder because we needed DE help that year. Clayborn turned in a nice year and then got hurt. hes playing pretty solid for Atlanta and i think we game up to quick. Bowers was an abject failure so i will swap him for Rodney Hudson who has turned into one of the better Centers in the league and would be a big upgrade over Hawley'
2012 - This one is pretty easy. Instead of Mark Barron we take the guy i actually wanted who went two picks later, Luke Kuechley. Harrison Smith was a hard one to pass up here.
2013 - Since we get a do-over in this scenario and didnt foolishly trade our pick i am taking Deandre Hopkins to give us that true Number 1 receiver that we needed back then. Imagine Hopkins and Evans outside.
2014 - Another Easy choice. Dump ASJackass and select Kony Ealy to rush the passer for us.
2015 - I think we nailed this one and wouldnt change a thing in round 1 and 2
2016 - Easy choice here. We don't trade up for a kicker. i take Vonn bell instead to shore up our safety position.
recapping imagine how much better this team could be if we made the following selections in rounds 1 and 2.
Gerald McCoy
Rob Gronkowski
Arrelious Benn
Adrian Clayborn
Rodney Hudson
Luke Kuechley
Doug Martin
Lavonte David
Deandre Hopkins
Johnthan Banks
Mike Evans
Kony Ealy
Jameis Winston
Donovan Smith
Ali Marpet
Vernon Hargreaves
Noah Spence
Vonn Bell
obviously we wouldnt have been in contention to get Winston but it just goes to show how poor drafting can hurt you. not a single one of these guys is a stretch and all could easily have been chosen in our slots. i am not even couting tons of impact guys that i didnt take due to scheme fit (muhhammed wilkerson) or other needs at the time (harrison smith)
