Brent Grimes - Plays smooth as silk and deserves MVP nomination as he has been the most consistent Bucs player thus far.
VH3 - I was not a fan of him as a prospect or where he was drafted (too high). However, what I am seeing is that he is being misused completely. What the coaching staff expect from VH3 is to make reads and react with this athleticism to break on the ball and make plays on the ball. But that isn't realistic given VH3 measurables and given that is not how he became a well known prospect in college. In college VH3 was an aggressive CB that played closer to the line. Asking VH3 to play off coverage is like asking Revis to play zone...misuse of talent completely.
Conte - He is a lot more consistent than his Chicago Bears days but I sound like a broken record when I say this. Conte still bites on window dressing and still has issues using aggression to take down ball carriers.
Tandy - Most underrated safety on the roster and I am surprised people want to see him replaced. Tandy is a steady eddy and there is nothing wrong with that at the safety position. It helps that he has a background as a CB because teams can't play hurry up and try to create a mismatch against him.
Ward - I want to see more of him, because I know he will be integral to moving this defense a positive direction down the stretch. My personal opinion is I want to see a Ward/Tandy combo. But people have noted communication is best between Tandy and Conte.
Evans - The angles and tackling issues are well documented. But what is interesting with a boom or prospect like him is that he needs coaching to reach his potential. Right now I am wondering do the Bucs have the coaching staff necessary to allow him to play center field? Asking Evans to make complicated decisions isn't fair to a rookie, but you have to learn to go beyond the window dressing. Or else Evans may end up a journeyman like Conte.
