After having a little time to process this game, I thought I would share some thoughts. My hope is that we can keep this civil and not throw around insults at each other.
Winston- I wont say much, at this point we know who he is. Hopefully we can move on from him after this year.
Evans- My most disappointing player today. Pretty sad considering there was a 5 int perfomance from the QB. He just dis not show up today, his effort was poor all game long. If he catches that bomb at the end of the half this is a different game. That, coupled with the drops and the zero effort on the last pick. Just an awful showing today.
Defense- Cant blame them for this one. Outside of the long td drive, they did their jobs especially considering the positions they were put in all game. Would have liked to see more pressure from the front but they contained CMC again so I cant complain much. I have seen enough of VH3 though. Let's get Ryan Smith some burn.
Coaching- I thought lefty called a bad game. Abandoning the run in the 1st was inexplicable. The offense is light years better whem they can even somewhat effectively. So incredibly predictable. I thought the playcalling turned a corner after the Rams game but it has regressed. I feel like I am watching koetter call plays again. Any time Dare is in the game everyone and their mother knows we are throwing the ball. I've seen enough of Bobo returning punts.
O-line- An awful performance. Sure Winston was responsible for some of those sacks by holding on too long, but there were times were they gave up pressures immediately.
OJ Howard- So disappointing this year. I thought we might get him going after the screen pass but he again had big time drops. That being said we still need to feed this guy, too much of a mis match to ignore.
Devine White- got abused a few times today, but actually did flash a couple decent plays. I know people are calling him a bust but I'll hold off. He may never live up to the draft position but I am certainly not ready to label him a bust.
This team just cannot get out of their own way. How many stops did the defense get only to have the offense go three and out, drop balls in high spots, or just turn it over. They can never put together a decent performance from all 3 phases. Considering all of this, we lost by 11 points. Just sad and frustrating all around when we let these winnable games go
