"Yep, went back to being the Bucs! Champs again."
Unbelievable that the Bucs won the division
rest of the league had us picking in the top 5
yeah some “Buc fans” still upset with potentially another year of mediocrity next year
What ass clowns. Last time this team made the playoffs of a non Brady led team was 2007
think about that. It has taken the GOAT to make this team respectable and our first year without him, we make playoffs
Good job Bucs.

I’m happily in that group. Not really sure why anybody wants mediocrity, but the world is full of crazy people.

That team was mediocre too. There are those that are happy with playoff appearances that ultimately mean dick. I want the team I follow to be championship contenders. Crazy, I know.

You really didn't wanna win the division and make the playoffs?
I'm with you on Bowles being gone and not overpaying Baker but we went through decades of trash.
3 straight division wins. 4 straight playoff seasons?
This is how you change a losing culture.

now now. Let’s see what he has to say on how to improve on Bowles and baker?
maybe it’s a good alternative and realistic option

And a small few of the posters on the RB are more troll than Buc fans anyway
The game thread makes that obvious, if it wasn’t already lol.

Spot on
You really didn't wanna win the division and make the playoffs?
If this was a young team that is building up to something that won a crappy division, like the Houston Texans, then sure. But this team isn’t that. This is a veteran team that barely squeaked out a division championship in a crappy division. The only thing that gives me hope that they won’t get blown out next weekend is how crappy the Eagles are playing. Hell, the shitty Giants just manhandled them, so anything can happen.

I’ll disagree. Getting a good head coach and a better QB is how you change a losing culture, like Houston appears to have done. You can be happy about a 8-9 2022 team and 9-8 2023 team winning a crappy division if you like, but I’d prefer the team I follow to actually be good in lieu of mediocre. I’ll be happy to eat it if this team gets on a heater and wins a playoff game or two, but I just don’t see that happening after what we’ve seen the last two weeks.
Sooo much burn in this thread. As to my 2c regarding weak playoff spot vs contender….I will say this, ofc everyone wants their team to be contenders year in and year out. But football is more than any single season, sometimes you watch teams grow over a few years and then become dominant for years, see Pitts, KC, SF. KC sucked for a long time (Since Vermeil), then Andy Reid turned the franchise around, the culture changed first, then the repeat SB are the result of the effort they have put into changing the culture from the ground up. I think if any QB has the chance to overtake Brady as the GOAT, it would be P Ma (auto 😂), but I don’t think he would have developed how he did with anyone other than Reid mentoring him. IMHO Reid>>>> Bill B as far as coaches. It’s a great era for Chief fans, good for them. But I like Cinderella stories even more. New England patriots. Tom Brady 6th round pick nobody (at that time) off the bench and then leads the underdog Patriots to the Super Bowl, and who won it…it was the kicker IIRC, then the patriot dynasty begins. They came in as a WC, don’t forget. 2002, we lost the first game of the season, got into the playoffs and burned the playoffs to the ground culminating in one the biggest smack downs in Super Bowl hx, ppl didn’t think we could stop Gannon from carving us up, and we couldn’t score enough points….I LOVED how that one turned out. Don’t forget, Tony Dungy laid the foundation (and he got his ring in the end too) for that. So if I have to either win one Super Bowl in one season vs watching a team grow and develop a winning culture over a few years and then really be contenders…then yeah, I’m happy with the baby steps of the process, we clinched the division today when no one gave us a chance. Are you not entertained? We could lose in the first round and I would still be proud of what the Bucs were able to accomplish this year, but I’ll expect more next year! Go Bucs, never say never….the Pats beat the Rams, and that was supposed to be impossible as well.
What should encourage Bucs fans about next year is the way Licht knocked the last draft out of the park including the UDFAs. The rookies stepped in and filled the holes that everyone thought were going to be the weakness of this team and the reason we would lose. If Licht can continue to find guys at all levels of the draft then this team will be able to take another step forward next year.

oh so now the goal post is 2 playoff wins
why stop there? if this team wins the superbowl...Yuck. they just got lucky and will be mediocre next year. No Thanks.
again, name a realistic and better Coach-QB duo for next year.
Harbaugh? He ain't joining us
Bill Belichick? Do we really want him? defensive minded dinosaur.
I'd prefer an offensive minded head coach but again, i also live in reality. Bucs overachieved this year whether you want to admit it or not and will not fire Bowles with 3 years left on his contract. I was all for it with a loss today and at the 4-7 mark. It just isn't going to happen.
Now with next year's schedule including Philadelphia, Dallas, Chiefs, Chargers (w Herbert), Baltimore, 49ers, and Detroit. Yeah, we could be looking at 2-6 and at that point, fire Bowles and see how Canales does as the interim.
now on to mediocre Baker. Dude resurrected his career and will be re-signed. First non Brady QB to lead this Bucs team to a playoff in 15 damn years.
there was no better option on the current roster...(as if that even needs to be said) but some of you living in "imagination land" with Trask. Get real. And sorry but the Trask take is a god awful take. Yes, even I "King Baker Bro" was screaming at the TV with how awful Baker was today, even wanted to give Trask a series or two to spark the offense. The back up QB is the most popular guy on the team when the starter is sucking ass but in reality Trask is more likely to be out of the league when his contract with the Bucs is up then actually amount to anything.
So now that we finally waked up that Trask isn't respected and wont be anything more than a #2 or #3 next year (que JC still not giving up on Luke McCown), please give me the better options for 2024. Again, realistic options
Kirk Cousins? Russell Wilson? I can get behind replacing Baker with one of those two. Don't see any other veteran QB being better than Baker with already a year in the offense, established chemistry with Evans and Godwin.
Michael Penix? Dude will be 24 by time the draft comes. I mean shit that's just 2 years younger than Kyle Trask
Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels? Let's see, who are QB needy teams that pick ahead of us - Bears (with 2 picks)? Commanders? Patriots? Cardinals? Giants? Titans? Falcons? Vikings? Broncos? Raiders?
Bo Nix? Dude likely getting gobbled up ahead of us as well
so not likely we draft a QB that would realistically start next year or even take over for bridge mediocre "god i hate him" Baker. but hey maybe we build up the team at OG, Edge, ILB, C, CB, etc.
think it's very likely the Bucs look to their rookie QB in 2025 draft when they have another mediocre year next year, maybe even miss the playoffs but will have some draft infusion of talent and some aging vets off the books - Shaq, Jensen, Gage to name a few
mediocre? like that shouldn't be the bar with this franchise
from 1976 to 1996, the Bucs made the playoffs in 3 of their first 21 years. Pathetic. Would say mediocre looking pretty darn good
from 1997 to 2002, the Bucs at their best, made the playoffs 5 out of 6 years capping it off with a Super bowl
from 2003 to 2007, the Bucs made the playoffs in 2 of their 5 years. A disappointment no doubt but remember we were riding off a perennial playoff run
from 2008 to 2019, the Bucs made the playoffs 0 times in 12 years. What a drought. But hey, fuck being mediocre right, let's just suck ass instead. That makes football fun to watch
from 2020 to 2023, the Bucs have been through 2 head coaches, 2 quarterbacks, saw what it was like to be the New England Patriots for 2 years, Won a Super Bowl and have made the playoffs the in those 4 seasons. I know the division sucks but don't say being medicore isn't good enough and say you rather be shit with a back up QB in there to get a better draft pick
Ask the Carolina Panthers fans how they feel about Bryce Young #1 overall
or the Jaguars about Trevor Lawrence #1 overall or the Cardinals with Kyler Murray #1 overall?
it's a crap shoot and the fact that we made the playoffs at our mediocre QB played half decent this year, kept that winning culture alive post Tom Brady is fucking huge.
mediocre? like that shouldn't be the bar with this franchise
I get it dude, you like mediocre. I’m not sure why it’s so surprising others don’t.
They search out each others post in the name of quibbling…
the Bucs are a young team. They have some vet players but they are young and transitioning younger
One reason to be rooting for playoffs
