OL and Edge in first two rounds please!
Wirfs was moved to LT just because they needed a LT.
He was the in house replacement for Smith
Wirfs was approached about the move in January. They even told him he could go back
Donovan Smith sent packing in March. Draft there was LT available. They took Kancey
Wirfs is the best T in the league arguably so makes sense to move him to most important position PARTICULARLY with limited resources and other needs. His agreement to move there allowed them to pick Kancey
You can read Spytek talk about not wanting to lose enough games to pick where the LTs go. Stroud.
Hard to imagine the Bucs using a premium pick on WR, but maybe according to SR's fab 5, which also included this as a reason:
Bucs general manager Jason Licht also knows that good defenses can game plan to take away two receivers. That happened in 2022 when Tampa Bay no longer had wide receiver Antonio Brown and tight end Rob Gronkowski retired. The Bucs scoring plummeting from 30 points per game in 2020 and 2021 to just 18 points per game in 2022.
They must not think much of Palmer

No shit, Sherlock.
Hopefully you'll follow this post up with "Goedeke was the in-house replacement for Wirfs at RT", as that's the kinda top-notch analysis we've come to expect from you.
The Bucs would be stupid to draft a WR early in this year's draft. Sure, there will be a need next year when Godwin may be gone. But there are other more immediate needs that must be addressed in this year's draft.
As for other teams taking away two WRs, let's not forget who was the OC when the Bucs ppg slipped to 18 in 2022. Is he working in football at all? Last year's OC did a pretty darn good job with the same two WRs and a retread instead of the GOAT at QB...so good that he's now the HC with a division rival.
Bucs have so many short term and long term holes to fill I would love nothing more than BPA everywhere except tackle, punter, and kicker lol. Literally every other position is in play at some point in the draft.

What were "your" TOEFL scores, Pablo? How did you get into Valencia?

Th Red Board's football smart set is talking about moving up to #13 to draft an LT to play RT, so . . .
:-)
If the Bucs pick a LT in the first - I’ll be one of those screaming at the television.
If they were to take a tackle, it would be to move him inside, to guard, as Licht has been known to do…but if he does this, he has a pattern, he takes them later in the draft.
First rounders need to play, now.
I’d love an EDGE in the first, and I hope one of those top guys fall (Verse, Latu, or Chop Robinson). If not, I sure don’t want them to reach for one there.
Same with a iOL - no reaches in the first.
So many need QB’s, I’m thinking our critical needs will fall - not sure all the way to #26 - but betting there will be great options available.

"Two decades ago, being a young receiver was practically a roadblock, as teams trusted veterans way more than rookies: 13 of the top 17 players in receiving yards in 2001 were at least 28 and only three were 25 or younger.
In 2022, 14 of the top-25 receivers in receiving yards were 25 or younger, while only six of them were between 28 and 30. None were older than 30."
The Bucs are bucking the trend with the age of our WRs. At the start of 2025 Godwin will be 29 and likely will not be resigned and Evans will be 32 with a year left on his deal. I think drafting a WR on Day 2 is definitely in the cards.
Nothing wrong with drafting a WR day 2 or day 3 to develop. But the PR staff is hung up on the team possibly using a a first rounder on a WR which is monumentally stupid for several reasons:
1. Drafting a WR one year early before Godwin is not re-signed (that is a big assumption too) is a waste of a first round contract. It defeats the point of having a cheap rookie contract when Godwin and Evans are still on the team. Having all that cap space go to WR this year doesn't make sense either.
2. Coen will be using a lot of 11 personnel which means the third WR will see more play but not that much more. Using a first round pick on a situational player is really pushing it when the team doesn't have a clear starter at one edge spot, left guard and questionable starter at center. And there is a need to add a two way TE to team with Otton.
3. This is a very deep WR class so you can land a bonified "starter" well into the third round. In the 4th and 5th round you will be able to find a WR that can play that 3rd WR role easily and compete with Palmer.
4. Palmer is inconsistent but at the same time he was a rookie and a very productive rookie relative to his draft position.
5. A veteran WR is still going to be needed to be signed as some point so why burn a first round pick at a position that will be plentiful after teams make their cuts post draft. A deep WR draft means teams WILL cut veteran WRs and the Bucs can scoop up a vet on the cheap for one year deals. Or even on a 2-3 short deals.

I think they say day 1 or 2.

Hypothetically, there couldn't be a tackle good enough to take at 13 and move Goedeke inside?
