Wonder how he feels about Lovie now that Lovie put him on blast...
"We have to have a double-digit sack guy on the outside, and we don't have that right now."Dolorous wins . Been banging this drum for months among a sea of idiots who want to take a Nose Tackle.
Right. You were one of the idiots who thought Bowers was going to get double digit sacks last year and you ridiculed those of us who wanted to bring in a RDE last year.Schmuck.
Lovie said it perfectly. Seems a few people are fine with the output that Clayborn has produced...every excuse can be made in the book, but the fact is that he really hasn't been all that productive when he has rushed the passer in his 34ish games."Solid gets us 4-12"

I thought he was riding the DTN train?

Youre saying that you agree with needing a double digit sack guy and your right for not wanting Donald? Im pretty sure Lovie is not talking about getting a double digit sack guy from the draft. There are only two way that would be possible; a trade up for Clowney, or Mack being able to play at a high level in the NFL as a DE. Since we arent drafting Clowney, and you dont want Mack either, what exactly do you think you were right about? If its just getting a double digit sack guy in general then you must be an idiot DJ lol. Everyone on this board absolutely knows we need a doule digit sack end. I would love to draft Donald, but obviously I also want to bring a DE in like Jared Allen. drafting Donald doesnt change the fact that we should target a DE in FA. it only means we want our Dline to be sick as hell next season.
The thing you always hear is how pressure up the middle does more to disrupt the QB than anything else since he can't step I to the throw. Draft Donald and let him and McCoy go hunting!!
I wanted to sign Abraham last season , but don't let the facts get in the way , Cody Grimm Reaper...errrrrr...Goldsonages.Now go back to your " Sammy Watkins is too small " thread and get whored some more.
BTW, assuming this to be true the guy now on the outside looking in is Spence who has zero pass rush ability. Is this a guy who gets traded to a team that needs a 2 gapping type player?
I remember seeing an early rumor somewhere (can't remember where, sorry) that new Buc staff was not high on Spence at all. They want a penetrator there - that's one reason I've not totally dismissed a player like Donald, Jernigan, etc. being a possibility depending of course on where we end up actually drafting.

interesting point
Clayborn had a very nice rookie season. He was disruptive, had 7.5 sacks, and forced 3 fumbles. Not sure what more is expected from a rookie DE.His second year he played 2 full games and went on IR for a torn ACL. So last year was his return from that ACL and he was pretty good with 6 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. He was also 4th in the league in TFL with 18. I think it's fair to say he should be better this season with a full year between him and his ACL injury. Not everyone bounces back from an ACL immediately like Adrian Peterson. I think Adrian will have to earn his starting spot, which is great, but I think he will earn it and be very good in 2014.
I think you to take some of the comments Lovie is making as him trying to light a fire under certain players. Clearly very few jobs safe though. I agree with all of this. I will also add that I saw a bunch of plays where AC was in coverage or was told to run all the way around the opposite tackle before going after the QB. Hyperbole perhaps, but I think he will be much better in a scheme that just lets him get after the QB.
Not hyperbole at all my friend. They had Clayborn playing a lot of LB last year and it was ridiculous. Clayborn's first tweet when Lovie was hired, was "Can't wait to put my hand in the dirt full time again"
Clayborn sucks.Gholston has a high ceiling and was really our most disruptive DE by the end of the year.I think making a move for Clowney would be a soid move. Or drafting Mack.
how can anyone make a definitive statement on most players while simultaneously calling the prior coaching regime a joke? Aren't those two things at least mildly at odds with each other? Seems like Clayborn might be the perfect example given that he was standing up a lot last year. He will probably get the benefit of the doubt. There has to be at least a little motivation in Lovie's comments, wouldn't you think?
I doNT think Clayborn sucks , but I'm totally on board with letting him know that his current pass rush production ain't gonna cut it. Get better or get lost.

absolutely
To me, it all depends on just exactly who is letting them know that their production is insufficient. If it is Schiano, then I am outraged! What a horrible tyrant he must be. If it is Lovie delivering that same message, then I am well pleased. What a great coach and wonderful human being he must be.
