This is a decision to find a good fit. He will bring leadership to the locker room, while being a leader on the field. With the seventh pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Buccaneers will most likely draft a quarterback. As long as he declares for the draft, Johnny Manizel will be heading to Tampa Bay.  Maniziel’s 2013 was filled with a lot of unnecessary attention and drama, and Smith will be able to handle it. If anyone can calm down a wild Johnny Football and make sure he becomes a successful NFL quarterback, it would be coach Smith.Additionally, Smith served four years under Tony Dungy in Tampa Bay, and understands the way things are run. Smith’s hiring in Tampa Bay makes almost too much sense. Add in potentially drafting Manizel, and the Bucs are on their way to making the 2015 NFL Playoffs.

Manziel in Tampa is a dream scenario.  Guy can play.  He can draw a crowd.  And he is what this team needs in terms of energy, and escapability.  Must push up to the number 2 spot!  Get that dude!

That connection is a real real stretch.  Manziel is certainly a possibility, but I don't see how Lovie's hiring makes it any more likely or unlikely.  It's like saying because Tedford is the new OC (if he is), that Derek Carr is somehow a lock to come here.

Continue the Manziel circle jerk. Last time we saw a Player this good in CFB was Tim tebow. Manziel is far more accurate and it's not even close, but I'm still skeptical.

Manziel has already declared and you not knowing that makes me think you just like Manziel for the hype because if you pay attention to his mechanics and decision making you would know it more than likely won't translate to consistent success in the nfl.

I have watched eight of his games this season.  And he has been incredibly fun to watch, and VERY translateable to the NFL game.  He is not small.  He seems to be the guy who delivers the blows when he flies into piles like an idiot.  But that can be cleaned up.I have always said he has big azz hands, and it has been further confirmed as of recently with the Bowl Game coverage.  He will be able to sling it in cold weather, or in wind, despite small stature. He is a fiery leader, who loves to play the game, and he can sling it.  This "weak arm" stuff is bogus on so many levels.  Those are the guys who have not watched him play.Get this kid some solid coaching in the NFL, and let him rip it!  With Lovie as the coach, the BUcs will be in most games anyway...perfect scenario is Manziel and Lovie, get that dynasty started!  Or at least try to!  Beats Schaino and Glennon as the idea of "the Future".  That is almost like not trying at all!

Tebow was a successful NFL quarterback. One season as a starter, one playoff appearance.

Like Darren Sproles?Or RWilson?  He may get killed.  But then again, injuries happen to small dudes, as well as the Hulks of the NFL as well.  To banter about injury, when we have seen Manziel take some punishing shots and bounce up and stick it right down their throats for a TD run, or pass, says to me he can take a hit.He may get hurt, but anyone can.  The guy can sling it, and he has wheels, and is a leader of men.  A winner.  His skillset is great.

You know, 49% of me thinks I'm nuts to agree with you about all those things you mentioned, but the other 51% of me is saying hell-to-the-yes to Manziel. I really think Manziel may very well be the next big thing in NFL!

I think drafting Clowney just got about two-to-three times more likely than it was before Lovie Smith was hired.

I think Lovie knew who he was gonna go after in the draft before he was even hired...

Most of us did.I am all aboard the JFF wagon.  Dude is what this team needs. The pass rush can be fixed in free agency.  O-line is a major issue however...
