This is a decision to find a good fit. He will bring leadership to the locker room, while being a leader on the field. With the seventh pick in the 2014 NFL draft, the Buccaneers will most likely draft a quarterback. As long as he declares for the draft, Johnny Manizel will be heading to Tampa Bay. Maniziel’s 2013 was filled with a lot of unnecessary attention and drama, and Smith will be able to handle it. If anyone can calm down a wild Johnny Football and make sure he becomes a successful NFL quarterback, it would be coach Smith.Additionally, Smith served four years under Tony Dungy in Tampa Bay, and understands the way things are run. Smith’s hiring in Tampa Bay makes almost too much sense. Add in potentially drafting Manizel, and the Bucs are on their way to making the 2015 NFL Playoffs.

I'd love for him to draft manziel, but I'm not sure what he would want to do.Just because FL says so? ...give me something more than an assumption man. It would be great if you were on to something.
We are more likely to trade down, grab extra picks and draft someone like Trent Murphy and then look at WR and Oline in 2nd/3rd round. I hope someone does sell the farm to get Manziel just as long as it's not us, too many other important needs on this team to waste a first round pick on a mediocre crop of QBs this year.
Not worried about his size, not worried about his accuracy, not worried about arm strength either. My worry is that his speed, I suspect somewhere in the mid 4.5 to low 4.6 will not allow him to scramble around in the NFL like it does in College. My other worry is that the NFL will do what it does and eventually take away his "playmaking ability" and force him to stand in the pocket and function like a pocket passer, I'm just not sure about that part of his game. That's why I like Glennon for next year, his pocket passing ability are better than all but Teddy, and possibly Bortles. I don't think we'll get a chance to draft either of those guys.
Yea I don't think we go QB in the first. Lovie can roll with Glennon, and if it doesn't work out - oh well that was Schiano's guy and we look for our QB next year. I wouldn't mind Manziel at 7, but I don't think it's happening.
The problem is that Lovie has a small Window of time to win. I really don't think he is going to put all of his eggs in the Twig Cannon basket. Maybe my evaluation process is just messed up but I see no scenario where Glennon is the no.1 option in 2014. Zero.
Clowney will be a Buc on Draft daySome people may not like the pick and what we gave up to get him....but on game day when we have him on the edge and he destroys QB's they wont mind much anymore
Maybe Im reading the tea leaves wrong, but I know Lovie is looking to prove everyone wrong that he cant build an offense. While Clowney would be great, we've got a pretty good D. Every elite offense has one thing. An elite QB. We dont have that here. If Lovie wants to shake the perception he has, he needs to go O. He needs JFF.
....a match made in heaven. I've been fully aboard the Manziel train for a while. Just watching him play, you get the sense that he has the ability to will his team to victory.
against Duke.
would love to have a quarterback with some fire in his belly, for once

This is assuming Lovie and his staff view JFF as a franchise QB and don't view Glennon as one. I wouldn't etch that in stone.
Dude is too small. He's going to get killed in the NFL
So said Russell Wilson.

Different builds. Manziel is a huge douche but crams all that into a very thin man. He's also shorter than Wilson too. Wilson is also a better pure passer. People seem to forget Wilson played at Wisc and NCSU and neither used some sort of read option. He is a pocket passer and when I watched him in college I don't think I saw him doing any crazy running like a chicken with his head cut off crap. Manziel isn't that good in the pocket. If you ranked up all the QB's in the draft he might not be top 7 in pocket passing. He gets special running about and his small stature and lack of speed (he won't measure well) means he is gonna get smacked around a lot. Plus, you have to be able to make pocket throws consistently in the NFL and I'm not sure he does that.
Short and small are not the same thing. Shorter QBs generally are not preferred because it can limit their vision of the field. That has nothing to do with their thickness and ability to take a hit. Look at Doug Martin if you need an example- he is short but he is not small. Russell Wilson is short but he is not small.
Manziel will bulk up before the Combine... count on it
