By Brad Biggs, Tribune reporter1:59 pm, January 28, 2014NEW YORK — After one year out of football, Brian Urlacher has an invitation to get back in the league for a short time. The former Chicago Bears All-Pro middle linebacker has an invitation from new Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith to spend a week with his team during training camp this summer.“He asked me to come help and hang out for a week in training camp,” Urlacher said Tuesday afternoon at a Fox Sports event in advance of Super Bowl XLVIII.
Urlacher also was on ESPN radio in Chicago today and said he has no interest in coaching (the hosts had no idea Hardy already is the Bucs LBs coach). As for playing, Urlacher also said he thinks about it but Tampa bay has some good linebackers and they should be fine.
Urlacher was great in his prime, but things came crashing to earth in a hurry towards the end. I hope he never really seriously considers coming back. Would just add more tarnish to his pretty darn good career.
