Agree Dal. I live 2 hours west of Chicago so I've seen my share of Bears games with Lovie. I also share the anxiety of most when talks turn to Lovie's track record on offense. Besides Martz, he had guys like John Shoop for OC and when his job was on the line a season ago and knew he had to win in the playoffs he gives the offense to Mike Tice? Plus, he's the one who approved of trying to turn Devin Hester into a No. 1 receiver. Plus if he even thinks an assistant coach is getting more credit than he is for exceptional performance, they're launched. Ask Ron Rivera or Ron Turner. I'm sure the Glazers have their numbers. Just my 2 cents.
Some coaches learn from past failures. Just look at Bill Belichick
Shoop for OC
He hired this guy?Aw, hell no!
when picking potential HCs, Bucs fans think its still 2002? . . . since when are the Bucs so good that Lovie is a definite no go? How about we get to "respectable" before we worry about nuclear Super Bowls? Like it or not the Bucs are starting over
So we should hire hoping for mediocrity instead of doing what the 31 other teams do and try to find a guy that will take us to the promised land sooner rather than later.
all I read is a bunch of "no Lovie" and not any "no Lovie because Coach "X" is available," . . . but to your point . . . since when in Buc land is going to the SB and playoffs "hoping for mediocrity"? Have you been watching the team the last few years? I am not even a big Lovie fan, I dont know enough about him to be a big fan, but come on . . 4 or 5 division titles in 9 years, 84-66 record, NFC Champs . . . . does that sound like "mediocrity" to a Buc fan?
3 division championships, with 5 finishes in 3rd or 4th place in a weak nfc north out of 9 years.... no thanks, I want better for the Bucs. I want someone who can develop offensive talent to win shootouts against Brees. give me a schemer like Jay Gruden, not someone who held onto Rex Grossman.

you can have Jaythe playoff teas are alost split between dominant defense and offense. The Bucs are closer to be dominant on defense
I cant, he's helping his team in the playoffs again.

Good coaches get fired. Tom Coughlin, Bill Belichick, and Tony Dungy all won Super Bowls for other teams after getting fired from their first teams. Andy Reid may win coach of the year after getting fired. John Fox may go to the Super Bowl this year after getting fired. It happens.

his team with a dominant defense?
No way Jay comes to Tampa with the family history. Lovie would be OK provided he leaves the offense alone and Tedford can devise an offense according to the roster's strengths. But Lovie did the opposite in Chicago. I also would prefer an offense-minded coach that has at an average defense. It's the way of the league now.
Lovie is a "name" and our fans are fools, that's the only reason people are excited about this. Why don't we just hire Clyde Christensen as our next head coach? Wyche, Dungy, Gruden, Raheem, Schiano.......I'm sensing a pattern. Looks like Lovie will be the guy (for the Schiano haters to make excuses for) next year.

Wow, race baited and Schiano apologized in one post. Nicely done.
Glazers are fools but after two horrible "taking a chance" hires they feel the need for "safe". Probably isn't a bad idea at this point.

his team with a dominant defense?
yep, that one, where a good defense is supported by the 10th offense in the league. lovie ever combine a top defense and offense on the same team?

BTW, toss Fox on the old dog/new tricks pile as well.

Its close - top 5 offenses made the playoff, top 5 defenses too, but the 6th defense is the Cardinals with 10 or 11 wins? Lions, Bears and Redskins were top 10 offenses that missed the playoffs
