I think its become clear that Smith is not the answer at LT. I've always said lets give it some time to see if it works out; but it just isn't. This team needs a solid LT. And with Dotson surely gone (retiring?) in the next year or two, just move Smith to RT.
I think its also very clear that we simply don't have a DE on the team that scares anyone. Spence is a good complimentary player but not the star. And with his continued shoulder problems, not sure how much longer he is playing anyways.
So I know the season isn't over, but its pretty close. I just don't see 8 more wins for a shot at the playoffs. But one thing I'm pretty certain of, the off season discussions will center around; Do we draft a DE or LT?
So get your shots in early. If the Bucs have the option of drafting the best LT or DE in the draft, which do you do?
I think the offense is so much closer to being dominant than the defense being even average. I'd go for the LT and build a power house Oline. I know we will still be forced to outscore people to win games (que Captain obvious), but even if we add a dominant DE, I don't see him making that much of an overall impact considering all the holes on defense.
