So, Oakland starts off the draft with the first mind boggling pick. A mediocre player they reached for. Good job Oakland, no big deal. But for our Bucs? This created a window of opportunity. At pick 5, bucs on the clock. They pick who we all thought. OK. Let's discuss.
To me, this shows some regression. Licht in the past has been known for some pretty great value trades and honestly turning picks into ones we want to see + more. Ya, there's been some issues and some black marks on his resume for drafting. A Kicker in early is a bold play, but if we look at some other kickers taken early, let's face it, they've put up the points to deserve it.
Fast forward to this pick. Thank goodness its not a kicker. They take the guy they wanted. OK. But it's the wrong guy. I literally just read an article about BPA and how Bruce Arians was all about it. You're telling me an ILB Is going to elevate this team to a playoff team? You're telling me you are investing massive money into a QB with huge character issues and you are drafting "Safe picks" to surround him? We are letting go of half our roster it seems like to hire on... half that same roster we let go of back on? The same positions just cheaper? We let go of kwon alexander to draft another potential kwon alexander? That formula, even if better, only got us to a 5th overall draft pick. So it seems like the goal this year is set at a 7th overall draft pick.
We just had a chance at the best pass rusher in the draft. We walk away with a great player at a position that doesn't shape the defense. A player for a position we literally just axed that was one of the best in the nfl already at that same position. A 1st round pick needs to shape the side of the ball the are playing on.
Bucs, you had some credibility based on past draft value you accumulated. Regardless of if they were the right pick, you at least gave us a broader roster. This pick not only didn't broaden our roster, but really was undervalue. You could've done better. especially considering you are backfilling a position thats a gap in our roster based on backoffice decisions to let our current depth go. I dont understand that.
I've literally never posted before on a platform for football. Im sorry I had to. Sorry, not sorry. Whoever OK'd this needs to go. Licht. Arians. Doesnt matter. They are a poor decision maker and not one to lead the bucs to another playoff run. Dump the high risk players, lose the quarterback who you took a chance on that clearly isnt panning out and rebuild. Ya its a reset, but its because of your poor back office its happening.
You take Josh Allen here. Glasers, if you follow the community at all, this is not a day to celebrate. A great player at a low impact position is still a low impact player.
Good luck bucs! Hope i can still call myself a fan after this season
You dun goofed a few years too many doe. If you dont make playoffs ill be following another team at next years first day of drafting. If bucs dont make playoffs, licht and arians both need to go.
