Mack would be our 3down LDE... Right?
I voted other. I think Barr is a good player and Mack is a great player....I just don't think either is the right fit for us @7.
Gimme Mack all day. Love his tenacity and relentless pursuit. Only problem is the team picking before us is looking for that same type of player. they're almost certain to pick either Barr or Mack with their pick.
Wonder why they didn't convert Barr to TE? THAT is a very intriguing thought. With his size and acceleration he would be completely unstoppable.
wut
I think Mack's best position in the pros is at MIKE for a team that runs a 4-3 style defense - he has the speed to drop in to coverage and the nastiness to play downhill - Barr if drafted by a 4-3 will be a RDE and be asked to rush the passer.
Remember Barr has only played defense for 2 years .....He already has some amazing instincts you can't teach , but dude is going to be sick when he gains more technique. He has the frame to add some weight and play end . Mack looks like he's pretty much maxed his weight out , as he's about as jacked up on roids as humanly possible.Barr is the guy we need.
If we want an undersized pass rushing DE, I'd much rather spend a 3rd on Jeremiah Attaochu or Michael Sam.....then spend the 7th overall pick on Barr or Mack.

We don't have a third , so who do you like in round 2 ? I love Micheal Sam's game but he's not as explosive as Anthony Barr. Not near the upside.Attaochu I have no clue who he even is. I'll have to watch your video in the other thread when I have time.
Good post !!!
I don't always like hybrid players.But when I do, I prefer Mack.
With the NFL changing like it is. I believe guys who can play more than one position on defense are becoming more valuable, assuming you have a coach who can use them properly. I like Mack for this reason and it's a reason I'm such a big fan of Barron. Barron is very good close to the LOS on running downs but gets taken advantage of against smaller/quicker WR. He can play a more traditional SS role on 1st and 2nd but should be moved into a man to man coverage on the TE on 3rd down. I'm not sure I like Mack as a SLB on 1st and 2nd but would be able to tolerate it as he could be used for blitz purposes as a 5th rusher. I do like him as a specialist on 3rd down at DE. I'm liking that potential pick more and more.
I've seen Barr anywhere from 235 to 260 on weight. At 235 that is a non-starter as a DE, if he was playing at 260 that is a lot better potential. This notion that any undersized LB can just magically be a stand up hybrid is silly. It assumes a lot about their skills and schemes and ignores that teams can really attack you by formation based on how you react with your "star" player.
I haven't seen any credible source have Barr as light as 235. 248-255 is what you see most often and seems about right.
I'd take CJ Mosley over either of these guys. My opinion.
The eye in the sky doesn't lie. I'd take Mack over Barr every time. You have to teach Barr how to play and play hard, and that is a risky proposition. Mack is pro ready.
Of the two, the one guy I'm most comfortable with at taking #7 is Mack. But that's me.
