From the little I have seen of both, Barr seems more like a Dion Jordan like pure athlete that needs to be taught proper technique. Mack on the other hand is almost as good of an athlete, but with great hands usage and some pass rush moves to get to the QB. I also think Mack does a better job as a pure sideline to sideline LB and attacks rush lanes at the right time.
wow! great question. in my humble opinion I think Barr slightly ahead of Mack. Barr has elite athleticism and speed and needs more coaching with his technique ,especially disengaging off tackles. Mack has tenacity and good solid technique , but most think he's reached his ceiling athletically. bottom line is you can't teach speed and technique can be coached up.with Lovie as our new leader teaching will be a priority. so yeah , it's close, but I say Barr.
Most disturbing is taking any kind of incomplete player at 7 for me...
Looks like Mack has separated himself here but I'm not sure what has led to Barr's drop in stock in the off season. Clearly he has room to improve his game, but his issues were seen during the season. Anyone still on the Barr bandwagon, especially in a trade down scenario? Perhaps with some added bulk and refinement we could have a player that resembles Simeon rice?
I like Barr for the Bucs alot. I think Anthony Barr will be a better pro than Kahlil Mack and would thrive in a Lovie Smith Defense. 23 sacks and 42 TFLs in the Pac 12 in his first two years on defense>20 MAC sacks with 40 tfls over the same period.Barr is my sleeper pick for the Bucs at #7, I don't think he will be the pick but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gv3Q2FAqcdw I got into a fight at the stadium when this happened
I like Mack more than Barr.
