This post runs under the assumption that the 'big 3' are off the board..

As I see it, our biggest need is at CB with RB probably being addressed in round two. I like Derwin James a lot as a SS, but we HAVE to get another corner in the building so he can at least ease into the league, learning beside a vet like Grimes.

For those that are in favor of taking Denzel Ward at 7 - Why him over the guy who just had 27 PBUs and 8 INTs in one season? Most players can't post those numbers in four years combined.
And the kicker is, this was his first season getting the chance to start after converting from WR in 2015. I see a BETTER version of Marcus Peters, on the field and definitely off of it.

Sure, he might have just been a one year wonder at Iowa. And he didn't test incredibly well at the combine, but on tape he is as good as it gets.

Furthermore, we should be able to get him even if we can somehow trade down with a BUF, ARI, or MIA, etc. acquiring an extra pick or two.

Here's an excerpt from the NFL's website.

"Had a mind-blowing ball-hawking season with 27 passes defensed including eight interceptions. Tall with long arms. Allowed 41.3 percent completion rate. Made a play on 25.7 percent of his targets. Makes his own fortune. Instincts are top-notch. Plays the ball and not the man. Flashed supreme ball skills. High-point winner with ability to pull down the one-hand grab. Put together monster performances in big games. Finished with three interceptions in upset win over Ohio State and two pick-sixes against Wisconsin. Anticipates routes. Allowed no touchdowns after Week 4. Spotlight player. Lauded for positive attitude and strong work ethic."

I believe he is the best CB in the draft this year, and should be worth our consideration even if we don't trade back.

Any Iowa fans have an opinion on the kid?
