Get over it Brady is done and a year late
Who said anything about him, Slow Bus to Philly?
Geez…that dude has a permanent vacation home, rent free, in that tiny little dome of yours.
And Josh Allen is second during that time with turnovers , what’s your point
Allen also has 4,400+ more passing/rushing yards, 40+ more total TD’s, higher passing TD% per game, lower INT% per game, higher QBR average, higher passer rating average, etc., etc., etc…
Well, yeah. But what's your point?

I see no reason Mayfield can’t win 8 games like Brady did this year , and he will be doing it with less .
ofense will improve with anyone this season simply because Byron the moron is gone

This x 1000
Byron gone
Godwin healthy
Line continuity (hopefully)
Baker will certainly beat out Trask in camp
I'm gonna project, with a full 17 games:
3900 yards
23 tds
14 ints
4 lost fumbles
5 rushing tds
9 wins unless the defense plays like a top 5 unit
(Yes this is a homer Projection to some extent)
Given all the circumstances, this is a nice signing, IMO.
If Trask beats him out and is good? Great! He beats him but sucks? Great - High draft position for our next QB. Baker wins and is good? Great! Baker beats him and sucks? Great - see above.
As it’s been mentioned numerous times, they used a second on Trask so it’s time to see what they’ve got in him, good or bad.
Baker has always had the skill set, just obviously hasn’t been able to put it all together. Maybe the new OC works his magic that was used on Geno, on Baker.
I honestly think this offseason, and then regular season, may be a lot more fun than some other fans realize. If they flop, it’ll still be fun because at least half the fan base will be rooting for tanking for that USC QB lol
If they are pretty good/real good, well then that’ll very likely mean Baker/Trask are ballin out…that’ll be fun…obviously…

a nice thought and we always want to see contention but the one factor we are forgetting is coaching
Bowles lost the locker room in about week 5,6 last year
maybe this new OC puts some life in the offense and allows Bowles to focus on the defense but I’m trying to think if there’s a good example of a coach flopping in year 1 (given the expectation levels) to recover in subsequent years.
im sure there are examples but Bowles is already down his original OC who he spent the last several years with after year 1. He doesn’t have many strikes left
our division still sucks, we will win some games but we are no playoff team anymore
I see this as transition year and 8.5 mil for starting QB is perfect for that. Baker is fine for that purpose while we are looking for QB for the future.

Down his original OC? lol
If the Bucs get 7 win this year, is that success for Bowles? I mean, within the eyes of team management? 8 would be "Tom Brady level performance with Trask or Mayfield"
6 wins?
I am not sure the team looks at Bowles as you keep suggesting . . with the "expectations" part always added, of course
I have heard pros/cons about the Baker Mayfield signing by Tampa Bay. I see nothing but upside on the 1-year deal. For starters, the pocket will move vs. having a statue (no offense Tom, but you were who you were). The kid has a great arm. He came relatively cheap to a team with cap issues. He is still young and likely has a bit of a chip on his shoulder.Look at the fact that he went through purgatory in Cleveland, what with all the coaching/coordinator turnover and a lousy organization. Then off to Carolina with no real weapons to speak of. By the time he got to the Rams, their season was long gone. This is truly a low risk, high reward signing. Maybe he seems a bit cocky to some, but aren't all athletes for the most part? He just shows it more, which is fine as long as he performs. Hopefully the kid finds some stability within the organization. I like the kid.BONUS: He'll look good in the creamcicles
Last year Barf Mayfield was 1 and 5 with the Panthers before they benched and then released him. For the rest of the season the Panthers went 6-5. It even took fourth QTR heroics by Brady to defeat the Panthers in week 17. The Panthers were a much better team without Mayfield. At LA, Mayfield went 1-3 in his starts with a win over the hapless Broncos and losses against Green Bay, LA Chargers and Seattle. He did come off the bench to win the game against the Raiders. There is a reason that Mayfield was let loose by the Browns, Panthers and the Rams. When the Panthers had a winning season after cutting Mayfield, that should tell you something.
the Panther performs e makes me wonder if the guy is a cancer or at least a terrible leader because it’s like the team turned itself around with discipline and effort after he was gone?
at least that’s what it seems like from a great distance as I don’t follow Panthers
Mayfield was realistically 2-3 last year with the Rams.
And that same Broncos team gave the championship Chiefs all they could handle.
Baker is likely just a 1 year rental that will LIKELY disappoint but I think this was a good move by Licht.
Low risk, high reward.
Oh and the whole Panthers thing... that was a function of coaching not players. Are you gonna sit here and say CMC is bad because they had a better record without him? Asinine logic
@donkey_hunter Who would you get as QB?
I would’ve brought back Gabbert for the vet presence, Lock for the familiarity with the system, with the intention of starting Trask to see what we truly have in him.
That being said, looks like we’re going to see if we can “salvage” the little bit of a career that Baker had.
