Hopefully Canales can get Mayfield playing consistent football . He has a big arm , sling it on the move all day long , lots of bootlegs , something not seen in Tampa in a few years .

all the talent in the world, still young , he needs to make better decisions

@donkey_hunter Who would you get as QB?

I would’ve brought back Gabbert for the vet presence, Lock for the familiarity with the system, with the intention of starting Trask to see what we truly have in him.

No one asked me, but these were my thoughts exactly.

It's a new oc so I imagine also a new system.... and Gabbert is a solid clipboard holder

our division still sucks, we will win some games but we are no playoff team anymore

I see this as transition year and 8.5 mil for  starting QB is perfect for that. Baker is fine for that purpose while we are looking for QB for the future.

I feel the same way.

Until they prove otherwise this team is a .500 team or close to it.

Gabbert won’t be back, new system with new OC, no value in bringing him back.

It would be a waste of money because at this point I do not see the upside of keeping Gabbert over Trask.  Trask is on a cheap rookie deal.  Better off using the money that would go to Gabbert to sign some real depth at OT or CB which has been a problem for this team for some time.

im sure there are examples but Bowles is already down his original OC who he spent the last several years with after year 1. He doesn’t have many strikes left

Down his original OC? lol

If the Bucs get 7 win this year, is that success for Bowles?  I mean, within the eyes of team management? 8 would be "Tom Brady level performance with Trask or Mayfield"

6 wins?

I am not sure the team looks at Bowles as you keep suggesting . .  with the "expectations" part always added, of course

I would have to think Bowles is on the hot seat this year. Would you agree or can he go 4-13 and get a third season?

to your question as to what win total keeps his job or consider a success. I’d have to think 8 wins

or I could see 7 wins if team finishes season strong but if he only wins 5,6 I think they move on with offensive minded head coach and likely draft QB next year

I would think it has to be 8 wins as well.
