It says a lot about our QB situation when the argument against signing a quality back up is that he might actually beat out our incumbent young guy...SMH
It would be a good battle with Glennon, and it wouldn't break the bank to sign him.I think this is the route we should go rather than waste a top 10 draft pick on a meh prospect like Carr.
I think the Bucs are going to pick a quarterback in either the 1st, 2nd or 4th round so even if McCown does sign with Tampa, he'll have to face another challenger. The only plus to McCown possibly starting would be if he beats out Glennon to start and the team allows McCown to lead the team to give the draft choice more time to develop. Frankly though, I think Glennon could beat out McCown. Glennon at worst, IMO IS McCown or a McCown type of quarterback. From what I've seen (which admittingly isn't a lot), Tedford's system seems like a good fit for him. I think Glennon has a chance to be very good in Tedford's system, but I'm not sure if Tedford is going to be that good of a NFL offensive coordinator yet. JMO.

I honestly want nothing to do with a QB this year in the draft. Unless that E. Washington kid is there in the 4th (which I highly doubt), then I would rather wait and see what we have with Glennon and add talent around Glennon. I'd rather take 2014 to assess Glennon and then go after one next year in the draft (much better class coming out).
I heard an radio spot a few weeks ago where McCown sounded like he'd re-up with the Bears or retire. I don't think McCown is "likely" to end up in Tampa...

If that's true then he is not a very competitive guy and they can keep him.

I heard the same thing. Im not enamored with the guy, it took him this long to look like a legit player and I think most of that was due to Tressman. I mean, he made Cutler look pretty good too when he wasnt on the sideline with is sprained vag.

It does take some guys a long time to finally "get it" . Rich Gannon comes to mind , and even Kurt Warner.Maybe McCown is one of these types ?? Worth a shot I say if he wants to sign a reasonable deal and come and compete. I'd rather have him than some Derek Carr caliber rook.

Absolutely...I want nothing to do with anyone named Carr or drafting another QB this year. McCown could be a late bloomer or a product of Tressman, I wouldnt mind bring him in either way. Definitely a better option than drafting one.

I'm actually of the same opinion, but my instincts tell me that coaching staff will want to protect themselves and will pick their own guy this year as a fall back position. The way I suspect it will go down is - if Tedford feels that Glennon has enough ability and football IQ to continue to develop with the idea that he can be a franchise quarterback, the Bucs will pick someone other than a quarterback in round one and possibly even round two. I think they will look hard at picking up a quarterback with potential in round two (Garappolo for example) and if the guys they like are gone then they will put a priority on attempting to get someone either by trading into the 3rd or picking someone in the 4th. If Tedford is unsure about Glennon come the draft, then I think they pick someone like Carr/Bortles/Bridgewater (although I don't think Bridgewater fits Tedfords idea of a quarterback) in the first with the idea that Glennon will get his shot to develop and let the 1st rounder push him. The wildcard here could be Jordan Rodgers. Younger brother of Aaron, Tedford is going to have as much familiarity with Jordan as he does with Derek, the question is whether Jordan has enough potential to push Glennon as a draft pick does. If Tedford likes what he sees in Jordan, the Bucs could forgo a quarterback pick in 2014 and do exactly what you say above.I'd watch Tedfords comments about Glennon closely over the next few months.
Luke is younger and better. Just had bad luck.
If we need to sign a veteran QB then my choice would be Shaun Hill.
It would be a bad move. For one, he's too old to keep the team a contender for years, and that's what the glazers said they wanted. And for two, they can get a qb from draft who is talented, and has the upside of being enough to continuously keep us in the race for years. Also, glennon would be an excellent backup for years to come, and might be able to develop into a very good qb later on.If we sign a starting qb, it should be from draft imo.
Yo, right now we need a QB. And the day after we sign McCown we still will need a QB dawg. McCown has been a jouerneyman QB. His season with Chicago was the exception not the norm man.
McCown was throwing to Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffrey, Martellus Bennett...Played behind a solid O-line and with a solid run game lead by a top tier RB in Matt Forte. He had weapons around him. Here, not so much so. I wouldn't expect to see what we saw him do in Chicago this past season. Stick with Glennon. i think he will do well under Jeff Tedford's coaching and he's smart enough to learn his complex offense.
