Hard to imagine the cap strapped Bucs pay TWO receivers $20 plus million. Evans is 3-4 years older than Godwin?
reminds me of the time we chose Anthony McFarland over Warren Sapp.
let's not make the same mistake. No disrespect to Godwin who is a stud but how much of that is due to Evans getting #1 coverage
Godwin more injury prone too
if i had to choose one, i choose Evans

I am an Evans fan, so I really meant it more like part of the Brady ripple effect, forcing Bucs to maybe make a hard choice.
I dont know who is injured more but Godwin plays a different role that should me more prone to contact injury. Evans, hamstrings. That comparison is off like the Davante Adams one
I think when Evans went out Godwin lit up, so not sure its that Godwin's production has to be discounted without Evans. But, because they are different players/roles its not really Sapp v McFarland, its more like a DE versus as a DT or a burner RB versus a Lenny-style RB. They are different.
On that note, its impossible to replace Evans. He is a generational player, like the Randy Moss of his time AND his non-playing impact on the brand is HUGE. BUT his primary (not exclusive) role in most offenses is not that difficult to replace
I wnant them both, its just occurred to me that maybe the Bucs face a bit of a dilemma
If we continue to pay TE and rbs rookie deal contract I think there will always be money for CG and Mike. Everyone talks about how our te is worse position group, but idont mind because we’re paying 50M to wr’s (Gage). Continue to pay rookie deals to the slot te and rb position and we can keep paying for 2 star wrs

Another excellent point. Evans raise comes with gage release #endthread

lolz @ this clown.
Evans is up Sunday.

Thad Lewis:
"Lewis, a former NFL quarterback, says QBs have a similar thought process. “I’m going to look for the guy that’s going to catch the ball no matter what, if he’s double-covered, single-covered,” Lewis said. And on the Bucs, that guy is Chris Godwin.
“He’s one of the rare receivers that I know that sees the game from a quarterback lens and understands what the defense is doing and what they’re trying to do,” Lewis said.
As for Godwin being Baker Mayfield’s most prolific target on third down this season, Lewis says Godwin’s catch-rate percentage is the real deal. Godwin is catching 73 percent of the balls sent in his direction this year. That’s a percentage point over his career average.
For perspective, Mike Evans is catching about 59 percent of passes this season, also a shade better than his career average, though below his rate during the Tom Brady years.
Lewis lauded Godwin’s smart decisions in zone coverage, and he added that Godwin is a little better than Evans in traffic.
Look for Godwin to continue being a go-to guy in high-pressure situations. “In times of crisis you’re going to think players and not plays,” Lewis said.
FAB 2. For Bucs, The Decision At WR Will Be Mike Evans OR Chris Godwin
Should Evans fetch a contract offer somewhere between $20 million-$25 million next March, the Bucs will have to determine whether they want to keep him or Godwin. Tampa Bay likely won’t fork out the money to keep both.
3oth in the league in targets (Evans).....Bux are getting a great ROI this season from #13.

There are several players who'll be looking for a big contract, including #6. Bux fans couldn't care less about salary caps, just sign everyone, extend everyone.
If you trade him that would be to a team that has a contract ready for him to sign. If you don't trade him he becomes a free agent. You get to see how his body is holding up this year, or whether he's starting to decline. Then you can let him explore the waters and come back and see if you can come up with something similar. If you can be in the ballpark then he'll come back here. That's what's going to happen IMO. Ultimately, he may not have the market value his agent is looking for because of his age.Bucs have no interest in trading Evans despite strong value

good, yeah trade him for a second round pick for the likes of Roberto aguayo or Kyle trask or dexter jackson
no thank you. Rooting for Mike to get 1,000 yards is about all we will have to root for this year, don’t take that away from us
Bucs need to be sellers if they don't win tomorrow. And sellers mean finding a trade partner for Evans. Give him the opportunity to play for a winner while harvesting him for draft picks. This team is toast after Thursday. House cleaning starts Friday morning.

I see the resident LPN is up to his usual shitty troll job.
Can you imagine this offense without Evans? Good lord it might be historically bad.
As much as I love Godwin, he's not even close to Evans. He's a solid wr2 with upside but he's not much of a deep threat anymore and hasn't produced many tds the last 3-4 seasons
