Drops were frustrating... he also had one of the most insane 1 handers I've ever seen... which almost makes it more frustrating.
But Baker was really inaccurate last night... and I think that's where Trask has him beat.
Baker didn't make anything easy.
Frustrating night all around...

you have to remember the offensive line was atrocious and overmatched. Trask would have gotten sacked in alot of those situations where Baker was running for his life.
Baker didn't have a good game but hardly ready to panic
we'd be 0-3 with Trask, currently 2-1 with Baker; let's see how we respond to Saints
Power Rankings have us unchanged from last week on ESPN and profootballtalk so it appears the pundits aren't overreacting to losing to the defending NFC Champs.
Sure Mike needs to play better but even if he makes those catches, we lose because of our defense not being able to stop the run.
these two plays were the killers to me
1 - Devin White intercepting the ball and then next 2 plays, Baker is sacked, White fumbles. The game was 10-3 at that point and instead of getting 3 points on that drive, the Eagles get 3
2 - For some reason, we decide to run the ball on our own 1 yard line. Everyone knew that would result in a safety if we did that so mind boggling that our OC would be that braindead
but yeah the Eagles were having their way with us, so much that Todd Bowles didnt even call time outs at the end of the game. We gave up because we couldn't stop them and we had a guy that was selling car insurance just a week ago covering AJ brown

haha
I agree with the rest of your post but this part made me laugh
The Eagles are a cxmplete team in the thick of it. The Bucs are basically shaking off a Brady hangover and slowly rebuilding the team. (with a few former insurance salesman)
But Baker was really inaccurate last night.
I think he said from the podium that the Bucs needed to be more fired up to start the game. Maybe he is too fired up!
Still, Eagles much better team
If cornerbacks get a lot of credit for PBU Wr need to be reemed for drop balls, they both are equivalent to the same result an incomplete pass and loss of down.
The ball hit both of his hands in the end zone and instead of going up 7-3, we tied 3-3. Changed the whole game. Then the 2nd drop right as we are driving and trying to get back in game. Mike Evans needs to focus on catching the ball instead of his contract.
The would be TD in the first half was not a drop. Defender got his hand in the perfect position to hit the ball before Mike could clamp both hands on it. That pass should have either gotten there sooner or should have been a little more outside, out of reach of the defender. He had one drop that was all him. The other, on the sidelines, was after it started raining, and it was a little high and hard. If it wasn't wet, I would give him 100% blame on that one, but the rain, placement, and heat on the throw made it a little harder than it should have been. Still catchable though. And Mike shouldn't have even had that first TD attempt as Godwin was wide open the play before and Baker was late and wide on the throw. Baker was putting a lot of balls up either late or high making it a tough night all around.
Due to the crappy throw, he was falling backwards squatting to try to catch this pass and the defender had his hand in the perfect spot to knock the ball out. A better throw=TD. A quicker, more inside pass to Godwin would have equaled a TD as well. Mike has his drops, but I just don't count this one. It's a defensed pass, and poorly thrown at that.

I disagree. Baker had plenty of time to throw on the first series and missed open guys high. Trask isn't a Brady-esque statue either, which he clearly showed in the pre-season. He's also more accurate than Baker on the intermediate routes which is why, during pre-season, when Baker was in it was "dink...dunk...punt...dink...dunk...bomb" with Mayfield, making it very hit or miss with the offense moving the chains. With Trask, he consistently hit those double digit intermediate passes, and had a lot more consistent 1st down conversions because of it. In other words, the offense more consistently moved the chains with him. I think he would have run on that 3rd and 7 with nothing but grass in front of him for miles instead of chucking a duck deep and punting.

The ball hit Mike’s hands before the DB knocked it away. That’s going to be a drop for any WR, as he had the opportunity to catch and hold onto the ball. It wasn’t knocked away before it got to him.
I do agree that Mayfield should have put more zip on it, just like he should have on the ball to Godwin on the previous play.
Evans has a problem with drops but the one in the EZ is a late bad throw that helps the defender recover.
Evans is backpedaling waiting for it is thrown short and inside. If it’s thrown high and away the defender never gets there
If those drops were catches, the game would have been closer, but still an L. Eagles outplayed and outcoached the Bucs last night in addition to a huge talent gap.

Yeah, but put any receiver in that exact position falling backwards like that, and 99 times out of 100 that ball is coming out due to the defender and circumstances.
Baker didn't make anything easy.
Frustrating night all around...
Yeah. The drops were indeed frustrating.
But, as you said, minus the initial quick hitter to Godwin; Baker was inaccurate right out of the gate.
The 2nd pass of the game where he missed Thompkins was really bad and set the tone to me.
But, after watching the All-22, it was even worse. Another great call and play design with Palmer and Thompkins on a double crosser (where the safety commits to Palmer...who is FLYING).
Deven has nothing but green grass in front of him and an easy TD.
Baker airmails him.
Then the late read on Evans in the EZ (that drop can be argued either way), but it was still a bad throw. Then the late read on the Godwin throw that was picked.
Baker has legitimately left 5-7 absolute CAKE touchdowns on the table in the first 3 weeks alone.
And, don't get me wrong. Evans dropped an easy one last game (or Minny...can't remember which), Palmer inexplicably ran OB on one last week, etc.
But, Baker has to do better in this regard.
I'm trusting that it will get better, since there are so many open looks out there. New system, new receivers to work with, new OC, etc.
If he can get it together, this offense has tons of potential.

That's speculation, and highly disagreeable speculation at that. That's a catch NFL WR's should make 99 times out of 100.
The ball hit him in the hands before the defender got there. That isn't speculation.
Both things can be true: Mayfield should have made a better throw to make the catch easier for his WR and Evans did drop the ball. I would also argue Evans made up for his drop with that insane circus catch.
