Let him test the market and match or slightly undercut it.
I think he’ll test the market regardless, or he should fire his agent.
That being said, 3yr/$75M-$80M (and the corresponding APY) would pretty much put him in the bottom half of the league.
Not too many options available.
JC?
Badabing put a number out
DH put a number out
I even put a number out (even conceding I couldn't care or know less about $ side)
So, whats your OFFSEASON number?
My number is whatever it takes. It'll take a sacrifice to make it happen, whose sacrifice tho...BAller, ME!!!!3, Glazer Wallet? I know what its like to carry the entire load on your shoulders and grin the entire way because you love the beauty in the struggle-. I have a feeling I know who will sacrifice, I just hope he does it in silence and in private, the only thing that will give it away will be his big smile. It pleases me to sacrifice everything I have for my Family. I am the first to cook and the last to eat, the first to work and the last to rest....and I wouldnt have it any other way. One of those three is more like me, i Think, their might even be 2 or even 3 that are more like me than I/we give them credit for. Whatever, I just hope the money deals are made PRIVATE for ALL CONTRACTZ this offseason, yet we see smiles on all of their faces as though they had just won the lottery of all paperz. I just know what I would do, and I have Faith AND Hope In The "what if," that is all. No pressure, You do You...but what if.
He was good, but he clearly had his issues.
And the issues were the same throughout the year. "He is what we thought he was" to paraphrase Dennis Green.

It's literally on page 2. I said he's getting the Geno Smith, Daniel Jones deal. And it will be a disaster.
Okay great thanks, JC
So everyone is now in the $25-35 million per year range.
Mayfield wants loyalty and security more than anything..... 1 or 2 years is an insult
150 over 5 yrs with a big signing bonus to keep the Cap low but not fully guaranteed like the nonsensical Browns where Watson played last year for $1 and next yr he has a 61 mil Cap hit.... lmao
Herbert, Tua, Hurts, Burrow, Allen, Lawrence, Mayfield, Stroud, Jackson, Goff, Purdy, Love
Some of these guys will never sniff a Super Bowl... no one here can predict who will. if you could you'd be too wealthy to posting on a chat board
.. and Bo Nix isn't gonna keep Evans in Tampa. 3 yrs at 'whatever' and a big signing bonus pushing the balance into the future like every other team in the NFL... and pray you win, just like every other team in the NFL

Baker can feel free to test free agency, don’t think he’s gonna get many offers. he needs to get better this off-season and work hard this off-season especially on footwork.
This is the best situation for him. A city and team that believes in him. He knows it. 25 is all I’m really wanting to move for him and give him performance incentives for 30m a year. One encouraging thing is he played his best in the playoffs. He just needs to calm down and loosen up earlier
I he works hard and doesnt have too much fun with his new contract he will have a 40td 4500 yard season next year. Canales is a gem

I don't think you and a lot of other people realize he plays the position at a very elementary level and is worth a fraction of what you think he is.

lol a 5 year deal would be defined as "blowing our loads"
he is worth a 3 year deal, nothing more. He had a good year, but before we anoint him "the franchise", would like to see how year 2 goes.
similar journeyman QB deals - Geno was 3 year, Ryan Tannehill was a 4 year.
i mean, if anything QB play is something, the shorter the better. Wonder how the Eagles are enjoying that Hurts contract? How about Arizona with Murray? or Giants with Daniel Jones? The Washington Redskins (at the time, eww my tummy hurt just saying it) would franchise Cousins every year. It took Dallas quite a bit to give Dak a contract but then unfortunately they realized he chokes a bit...much like Baltimore will realize next week with Lamar.
if we can give him a 2 year deal at $55-$60M, that's probably where we start and he may insist on length at 3 which is what Bucs may agree to but make it team friendly if he's butt cheeks in 3 years to make it more palatable to move on.
Coming from everyone's favorite Baker bro, he played well this year and earned a contract extension but yeah 2 or 3 years; not 5 year deal. He'd be Ludacris to expect more than 3 years and will likely jump at the 2 or 3 year deal offered to him at $25M per
150 over 5 yrs

Nice post @BadadbingBucs, a $7.4m cap savings if signed by this afternoon?
That should certainly give us a window into Mike’s intentions.
Unlike Bucs/Baker’s camps regarding re-signing - Mike has been strangely quiet.
Sounds like Mike is willing to walk whether we sign Baker or not...

i think its more that he would want to test the market value. Believe we saw many guys do that in recent years - Dean, Davis, and even Lav David.
but what are you suggesting? what scenario would you think Evans would prefer
option A - the known, Baker Mayfield at QB
Option b - the unknown, Kyle Trask, a rookie QB with us drafting at 26th, or anotehr veteran like Tannehill, Brisset, etc.
It could also be what the Bucs have calculated as needed to introduce some reality to the negotiations. While we fans see Mike as indispensable, the organization may have calculated that other teams might have to factor in that Mike Evans is now a player with 11 years of wear & tear, and perhaps not as exciting as the Mike Evans of a few years ago?Sounds like Mike is willing to walk whether we sign Baker or not...

This could go either way - for both sides. That would be sub-optimal, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
At this point, it certainly doesn’t look as if a deal gets struck by the end of the day. If not, that non-decision (by Mike Evans agent) would cost us $7.4m of cap space…limiting our ability to pay-to-play for the signing of other FA’s on our own roster.
but what are you suggesting?
What are you suggesting? That Mike would rather play with Baker than have another $5 to $7 mil a year elsewhere? Do you honestly think Mike is evaluating playing with Baker based on last year's stats alone, and not his career stats? Heck, he even had a string of games, not just a couple or three, during last season that were clunkers.
