You are correct that he doesn't have a high opinion of Trask. But he also has said that Baker Mayfield will be signing a 1-year, $25M contract next season.

Nobody in their right mind wants Mayfield for the next 3-5 years and $35M per year. The worst thing we can do is give him a Geno Smith, Daniel Jones type deal off of the half decent statistical year he is having.

Guy has been with us for 3 years and finally sniffed #2 on the depth chart. The Bucs had every right to tank this year. Why not start Trask to see what he has? No, they bring in a guy who has been on 3 teams in 1 years. What does this tell you? Trask couldn't hold Baker's jock strap. As far as being a Trask hater, i just hated the pick. Nothing to do with the player. Last second round QB to do anything was Drew Brees in 2001, over 2 decades ago. (disclaimer: Hurts has potential, Jimmy G and Derek Carr in that group; other 20 sucked) Give me a break. That pick should have been used for depth and since we are living in lala land with Trask being some kind of future starter, we could have had back to back superbowl wins.
but i digress. Listen, Bucs are going to get smacked in Atlanta this weekend. At that point, every single Buc Fans will be aligned to start Trask for the remaining 4 games to see what he has. No disagreement there. I hope i eat crow and he is the solution. The rest of our schedule are all winnable games now with Lawrence injury. But i think we have a better chance to go 5-12 or 6-11 then i do 9-8, 10-7 no matter who the QB is.
to say Mayfield is all of the problem, or that Trask would perform better is laughable. Vegas had the over/under at what 6 wins? Guess what we are playing to that expectation. The debate that "well we haven't seen Trask play".

8-9, playoff birth, not only do i think they resign Mayfield, i think Bowles keep his job
7-10, miss playoffs. I think it's likely Bowles is fired and at that point a new coach comes in. Hopefully offensive minded. I dont think this team is equipped to draft a QB to succeed. Would like to build up the offensive line a bit better and pull more of a Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs method rather than a Jets/Bears method of killing the QBs chances.

We are upset because this team sucks....but they aren't any different than the 10 years before Brady. it's just what the talent level of this team is and we are a few years away.
