Remember when Bowles was to blame for letting Evans injure his hamstring? lmao

"It seems Evans was possessed with getting on the field and getting the Bucs over the hump. McClendon described Evans as pressing folks at One Buc Palace to expedite doctors clearing him to play earlier than expected.

“Nothing surprised you when it comes to [Evans] just because he’s wired the right way and he’s the person he is and he worked his tail off to get back. He really, really did, man,” McClendon said. “I mean, every step of the way he was like, ‘Hey, you know, I’m coming back here, here, here’ and then actually came back a little bit ahead of schedule. And he was kind of pushing them to get the doctor visits and everything else moved up so he can go ahead and then get cleared early. I mean, he was really, really motivated to come out there and help us try to make this playoff run.”

Do you think Evans is the first player ever to demand to play when he shouldn't?

No

I also don't think that excuses the silly stuff that people come up with because they are unable to handle their own frustration lol.

This is the place where Mayfield was "on film not throwing to a wide open recover" . . when the actual film showed the receiver was the deep (decoy) on the non-play side.

Or, the Bucs running game is struggling because "Mayfield is sending the RB the wrong way!"

Funny stuff.

If Bowles makes it through the 2026 season, there will be plenty more. The game day threads are GUARANTEED to be a special kind of silly!

You're throwing out a lot of stuff that isn't exactly relevant to player (injury) managment.

Evans played when he shouldn't have vs Ravens. He should have waiting for Atlanta. He can cry and moan about not playing but that's LITERALLY what the coaching staff is for

Godwin is in-game player management.

Evans coming back against Detroit full speed deep ball heavy was an unjustifiable risk imo. No issue with him playing I was expecting to be a decoy and to get some easy ones to find his rhythm. Injuries aside it was very questionable play selection to just chuck it deep all game with injuries to our line and their aggressive pass rush.

It all falls in the same incompetency bucket but different versions of it.

Risk/reward etc

well my post wasnt about player injury management, it was a joke about Red Board poster mis-management ;-)

Zac Robinson increase chances Evans comes back?

probably doesn't move the needle

like Arizona Cardinals QB coach and Evans is probably like WTF....

so Zach Robinson at least being half decent hire doesn't make coaching an issue at least in his decision

at this point in his career, Evans would be coming back to pad his stats and nothing more; he knows another Super bowl isn't happening with Baker or Bowles.

So what QB coach pairing were you hoping for that would entice Evans to come back for a Super Bowl run.

I sure hope this doesn't offend anyone but this sentiment is that of a limp wristed casual.

We haven't been, aren't now, and never will be a SB contender with our current HC.

He doesn't have a reason to pad his stats.  His reason to come back would be to try to win it all.

We're at the point where "sports writers" can basically make up anything they want and people will run with it.

Yeah.  No one with any real knowledge thinks Evans is moving on.  He either plays for the Bucs or he retires.  You think he wants to deal with adjusting to another town, QB, coach??  Ain’t happening.

you have one life to live; with Mikes streak gone; and maybe thinking after 3rd and 28 that this team doesnt really have hope to win it again; what's to say he doesn't want to play with an Elite QB - heck - Mahomes, Allen, and Jackson all could use a Mike Evans; the Patriots could use a Mike Evans, the 49ers, maybe even the Eagles if they trade AJ Brown

so many better teams with better odds to secure another ring, i wouldn't rule it out

i do agree with you that it's likely 70% he returns to Bucs, 20% he chooses another team, and 10% he retires

maybe even higher he returns to Bucs but that could be me just being a homer as i dont think i would be able to hate Todd Bowles anymore that our outlook was so inept that Evans thought...ah fuck it, this is my last year, let me go to a team that actually has a chance.

FWIW, the author of the "report" is Tony Pauline. He also wrote the "Baker to get $40 million" article that became a hilarious thread last season.

“Mike’s too much of a competitor and cares too much about Tampa to end his career without 1,000 yards, without a division championship, without a playoff run,” Mayfield said. “First of all, that just speaks to who Mike is, but that’s the truth. And you know he doesn’t want to do that. You can just kind of feel it. Listen, I don’t have any info. I’ve told Mike, ‘This is your decision. Take your time doing it.’ But understanding who Mike is, this is my guess — that he doesn’t want to end it that way. He knows the potential [in Tampa] if we’re able to stay a little bit more healthy. Zac [Robinson] will do great things for us and we’ll go from there.

“But Mike’s got more in the tank. You could tell with the energy, the fire he had at the end of the year
