Manning's 3 win rookie season was ok because of a lousy team.  Matt Ryan's 4 win season just passed is ok because the team had a lot of injuries.  Mike Glennon's 4 win season is unacceptable because an elite QB should be able to elevate the team around him despite the injuries and general suck of our offense and coaching staff.Red board logic at it's finest.  You guys should just admit you have a favorite QB in the draft and will bash Glennon in any possible way to sway more people onto your player's wagon.

I think the vast majority of posters here believe now that Mike Glennon was a good pick, even early in the 3rd round.  We are glad to have him on our roster.  He is the quintessential draft and stash QB though.  He's the Shaub (don't mean that as an insult) that gets his shot in his 5th year.  As others have stated, if you are going young at starter it is a great advantage to be able to move an offense with your legs when necessary.  Without that you need overwhelming arm talent.  Mike obviously possesses neither.  So he has to be perfect and perfect is fucking hard young at that position.  I don't see how any of that is bashing Mike Glennon.

Glennon averaged 200 yards per game which would have been fine in 2001 but in the year 2014 you need a QB averaging at least 250+ yards per game.  If Glennon can pull it off it remains to be seen.

So ask yourself, would something as simple as just having Mike Williams back in the lineup as the #2 instead of Sky Dawson or Owusu, have made a difference of 50 yards a game?I'd honestly have to vote yes on that, even with the poor line and playcalling.  There was just nowhere else to go with the ball on so many plays.

Maybe, but you still have to consider: 1.) Tim Wright basically took over as the #2 receiver. So if you're going to give more plays to MW, you're taking away plays from Wright. Instead of Wright catching 571 yards and 5 TDs, with MW taking away touches he's probably around 300 yards and 2-3 TDs. 2.) Since Glennon does not push the ball down the field like Freeman, you're not going to get quite the same production we're previously accustomed to. Vincent Jackson went from 19.2 YPC in 2012 to 15.7 in 2013. Williams would probably similarly drop from his 15.8 YPC in 2012 to round 12 YPC. 3.) On his best day MW is not a player who gets a lot of separation, so if Glennon is holding the ball because he's not seeing receivers open, he may hold the ball just the same anytime MW isn't clearly open.

How many offensive plays did the Bucs run in 2012 and 2013?

I see it like this, I am not a hater or a big believer in Glennon, I am just not sure to be honest. I seen flashes like the first half in the Seattle game where I was like wow look at this kid than I saw games where it had me saying is this what were going to get? I like the kids talent and work ethic I am just not sure how high is ceiling is, I think most posters on this board want to get that "guy"and are tired of the mediocre QB. After Lovie and Tedford look at the film and make their decision I will go with whatever it is, I always say if you can get an upgrade go for it but where we are sitting this year with out trading up I really don't see a better option starting the year than Glennon.

You will never have great players at every position and even when you are close you will have injuries. You can't count on all your offensive weapons being there and your starting O-line starting 16 games and providing 4 seconds every snap. It's the NFL. There will be adversity. You have to build a team that can overcome it. QBs that only perform well under perfect conditions are back ups.QBs that can deal with bad situations and still figure out a way to win are starters.I think it is very clear what we have.

I don't disagree with any of that until the point where you think it's already clear what Mike is. Look at the 4 best QBs in the league...Rogers, Brady, Manning and Brees. Only Manning played as a rookie and threw 28 interceptions. It's simply silly to think Glennon has reached his peak or to think you know what he will be or won't be. I think we both agree, we both want the best QB possible taking snaps next year. I guess i'm just not ready to say that Mike isn't that guy yet.

I The Colts went 3-13 that year, but that's mostly because they were awful on defense (2nd worst in the league)

You did, actually.  I won't dig out the rest, but it is there.

You can take one sentence and take it out of context if you like, but you are twisting what I said. You are either trolling or you lack reading comprehension. Either way, I ain't got time for that.Aint-Nobody-Got-Time-For-That.gif

What does Matt Ryan have to do with anything? So the Falcons had an awful team this year and went 4-12.....but guess what. Matt ryan still was top five in yards per game because he is a valid starter and doesn't need everything to be perfect in order to do his job.Was that your point?

Is it that hard for you to figure out? The point was the stat you seem to so covet doesn't matter as much as you're making it out to be. You claim this stat is important well if it's so important why is a guy in the top 5 yielding a 4-12 record? That is the point. It's a TEAM game the faster you learn that the better off you'll be. Maybe then you will understand football. Well we can only hope.

Lol. Ok. So because you can find one oddity where a QB is in the top 5 for passing yards per game, but the team still sucked.....passing yards per game is now silly and unimportant? Sure bud. Whatever you say. Just keep your fingers in your ears and your eyes shut and maybe Glennon will be everything you imagine him to be.Me personally, I know that Glennon's yard per game mis so low because he averaged about 30 yards passing in the 2nd half of games. So I know that his 35th ranking is indeed valid and important and just one more piece of evidence that he is a back up QB.

Don't blame me. I was using the stat you love the most. That is all on you. It's not a TEAM game unless JDud wants it to be.

I have no problem with the point. The point is, the Falcons had no running game, no Julio Jones, and an injured Roddy White for most of the year....and Ryan still did his job well. He didn't need fans to make a bunch of excuses. he just went out and completed 67% of his passes for over 4500 yards. Unfortunately for the Falcons, it was not enough to overcome the injuries on offense and the horrible defense, but they didn't finish 4-12 because of Ryan. He did his job. Because that is what a franchise QB does.So good point. Thanks for sharing.

I've become the target of the Glennon Fanclub peanut gallery and they are projecting their homo erotic infatuation with attractive football players onto me. It's disturbing.

The irony it bleeds so much. Besides a few big runs here and there Rainey didn't do great. We were down to our 4th string runningback, no Mike Williams, and nobody besides VJax. It's so funny the excuses you make for Ryan are the same reasons we went 4-12. Plenty of guys on IR for us.
