Getting Mike Will and Martin back will certainly help. Drafting an explosive slot and stud TE would help too. This of course can all be seen as a reason to say Glennon is actually really good and promising and he struggled because of the lack of talent around him. I agree to a point but.....I see it another way and I am sure it's cause I'm a hater and he isn't cute enough. I think a much bigger reason for that stat is that Glennon so often threw short little dump offs to guys that were completely covered and immediately tackled. On 3rd and long he almost always threw a 5 yard pass to a guy that had a defender hanging on his back. That has a huge effect on this stat. I don't think he's going anywhere though, so we will all find out together if he is better with more talent around him.
Well you are wrong about his dink and dunk propensity, he didn't throw short all that more often than a lot of other QBs that you'd love to have like Rodgers and Luck.
He was ranked 13th in air yards per attempt at 4.5 64.5% of his passing yards were through the air which leads the NFL. Ranked 18th in total air yards.

Good post. I did see Glennon do that quite a bit. He would miss an open guy and just check it down. Maybe where we differ is that I believe that can be coached out of him. Maybe Schiano caused him to do stuff such as that? The good news is Schiano is gone. So if Glennon is who I think he could be then we'll see progress. If it turns out he needs plastic surgery then well we won't see progress. Hopefully he is like wine and gets cuter the more you drink. We will see.

C'mon now. Don't be silly. Every QB has the majority of their pass attempts land in that 1-10 yard range. The difference is when and how. Rodgers or Luck will move around to extend a play if they have to until someone gets open and then make that 5 yard pass to convert a 3rd down. Glennon can't do that. Too many times I watched him either take a sack or throw a check down to someone who was blanketed by a defender on 3rd down. On 3rd and 8 a defense plays off and lets you have the 5 yard reception all day long. Also, if you look at Glennons throws on 3rd and 6+ yards to go, he actually has a higher completion rate than Rodgers.....but his average pass in that situation was just 5.6 yards, which is less than 6 so most of the time it did not result in a conversion. Rodgers average in the same situation was 8.7.....which generally did result in a conversion. If you look at completion rate or the air yards/YAC without context of when and where they happened, it is easy to be fooled.....but while completing a 5 yard pass play on 3rd and 6 might make your completion % look nice, it doesn't actually help you win.
Great, all this shows is that we have the 4th best QB in the division. Not going to win much that way.
Are you just comparing rookie Glennon to the vet's 2013 seasons? Because if you compare Glennon's stats to them as rookie's and 2nd year guys Glennon is on par with them.

I've been saying this for awhile, people have very short memories. People keep comparing Glennon vs his contemporaries during the primes of their careers and not comparing him to them as rookies. He seems to be inline with many of these "franchise" QB's when you compare him to them as rookies. Throw in the leagues worst rated Oline...and I can't understand people thought process.

Everybody wants one of these vogue running QBs despite their historical lack of success. Between the phenom that is Andrew Luck and Russel Wilson being drafted by a really good team I think the expectations for rookie QBs will be absurd for a while.
Not only was Glennon a rookie, but he got 2nd/3rd-string snaps in TC. A Tedford TC will make a huge difference. Too few play-maker receivers and way too many long-developing routes certainly depressed Glennon's performance. A good coach accents his players' strengths and hides their weaknesses. Sullivan failed badly; didn't have the right players (except Jackson) for his system. Been sayin' forever, fix those items and Glennon will be a whole different cat!
I know some people think the NFL has always been slanted like this for the QB. It hasn't. Glennon was lucky enough to be a rookie in 2013 when the rules are in full effect. Glennon has some major flaws and Tedford has HUGE undertaking, unless he comes to the conclusion that he is a back up. Hey if Tedford says he can fix him then roll with him.

In 2012 Martin was 14th in the league in YAC. VJax was 20th. Mike Will was 34th. Considering that is a stat for all RBsm TEs, and WRs.....it is pretty good to have three guys in the top 35. Getting back Mike Will and Martin will help a lot. Getting a solid slot and stud TE would do a lot more.

Correct but again is his 5.6 because he isn't getting the RAC that Rodgers gets to get conversions? That continues to be the problem is trying to separate the failure of the QB from the overall failure of the team. The differences for Glennon with other QBs is stark in this case.

Sammy as the #1 WR would let them move VJax to slot, where he's better suited... would help the OL and QB, too.
