Vincent Jackson had the second lowest YPR of his 9 year career. The entire offense was in the toilet.
But his second most yardage.
More catches. Fewer yards. That's not a good thing.
Offense was bad, I get it. But Jackson was still getting his, even if it was at a lower yards per catch. The QB excuse won't fly when Jackson had 509 yards in the same 6 games Williams played.
Bad QBs often focus on one receiver and then everyone else suffers.

Or Williams got paid and stopped caring.
Again, everyone suffered. In 2012 the Bucs averaged 12.8 yards per reception. In 2012 they averaged 9.7.
Everyone stopped caring after they got paid. That's the only logical explanation, because it can't be because of bad QB play.
Tampa Bay, where mediocre players go to be paid like stars and have their very average at best performances hyped as greatness by fans.
The highest paid WR in the NFL averages over $18 million per season. Williams averages barely more than 1/3 of that.
Megatron is the highest paid at just over $16.2 million (average) & there isn;t a player in the league other than QBs who make more than him so I don't know where you pulled this magical $18 mill figure from, sipoma.com maybe?Even then he just happens to be maybe the best ever at the position and it's still widely accepted that you should never pay that kind of money to any player other than a top level QB.Even if Johnsons salary were $18 million Williams still far exceeds "barely making more than a 1/3 of that," $7.924 mill a year is a lot more than the 1/3 of $18millAs it stand Mikes contract averages just under half of what one of the greatest ever is making.Your post is so full of fail.
This use to say Fitzgerald averaged $18M as recent as last week. Not sure when or why it changed, but that is probably what he was referring to. http://www.spotrac.com/rankings/nfl/average/wide-receiver/limit-25/ Fitzgerald is scheduled to make $18M this year though....and $21.5M next year. Crazy. I'm sure he will restructure or be traded or both.
He's a solid #2 WR and paid accordingly. Move along, there's nothing to see here!
Really, you find us some more solid #2s, that were signed as #2s (not failed #1s that have been passed on the depth chart like Miles Austin) who are making almost $8million a year on their deals.I'm sure you will come up with names like Harvin and Cruz but hey were given those deals to be the #1 guy going forward.
Per Rotoworld, Calvin Johnson: 8 years, $150.5 million, $18.8 million per season Larry Fitzgerald: 8 years, $128.5 million, $16 million per seasonMike Williams: 6 years, $40.25 million, $6.7 million per season How much exactly do you think Williams should be making?

Fitzgeralds numbers are insane at the end of that deal he's gonna have to rework that or he'll be on the street looking for work at a far cheaper salary, more so now that he's constantly broken down and the wrong side of 30 now.I'm not sure any player even QBs are worth giving up such a large percentage of the salary cap, once your QB (or any player) starts making that kind of coin it's hard to put a full team together that is quality, it's no surprise that it's QBs on rookie or prove it deals that are cheapish that have been winning Super Bowls, you get the great QB cheap and build around them to take advantage of the small window, once that QB gets paid you just can't afford that all round quality.
I never wanted to resign him because even though he's good, he's not what the Bucs need, esecially in combination with Vjax. When we committed to buying Vjax, which was fine, the guy opposite to him needed to be a different style. An Antonio Brown or Welker style receiver.
Jackson is five years older than Williams. There's no reason to throw away a promising young player because we're renting Jackson for the last few years of his career. The Bucs haven't been against the cap for close to ten years.
The bucs were not in a building mode before last season. It was playoff or bust, win now or bust. We invested in vjax to be a winning football team in his first year and we then paid mike Williams to lock him down as the guy opposite of vjax. That's what I think the mistake was. You just gave whoever the QB is two receivers who don't seperate well or have the quicks to consistently move the chains. So in my opinion there was a reason to throw him away. Is he worth good WR #2 money? Yes but not for us. Not with vjax being our number 1. I don't expect a bunch of people to agree with me, this has been my stance for a while though.

Rotoworld is wrong and you can tell that by the date they use for Megatrons contract, they say 2012 but he restructured that deal in 2013.They seem to think he got an "addition 2013 signing bonus" but that was actually converted salary to free up cap space.Rotoworld really can't keep track of what contracts they are reporting and end up getting inaccurate figures due to merging to separate deals.

This argument is bad and you disappoint me for going this route. Fitzgerald, despite mediocre production, is a proven elite commodity at his position. If Cards are not going to pay him that money, several other teams in the league will. Williams on the other hand is a proven mediocre receiver with upside. These kind of guys need to be "value" acquisitions. Dominik however seemed to extrapolate MW's potential into possible production and got him the best contract no other team would give.At least something we both and even Dolorous will agree on, Dominik was a bad GM and this contract along with Joseph, Zuttah, Eric Wright and Michael Clayton's contracts proves it.
MW didn't get paid on potential. He got paid based on what he has actually accomplished. In his first three seasons he finished #19 in yards and #21 (as a WR2) and #4 and #11 in TDs. Unlike every other contract Dominik wrote, MW got paid what he was worth.
Was it what he was worth after the 200,000 dollars in fines or before ?
