Being that it happened in December, the article about the previous regime mulling over the possibility of his release makes a little more sense.
This team gives you every reason not to like it. Smith has quite a task in front of him as even the Bucs own fan base view the team as a joke. The ones that don't view the team as a joke know how tough the NFC South is. With no QB on top of that. I sure hope Williams doesn't turn out to be another fail. This team hasn't known what to do with talent since Gruden left.

Huh? Speak for yourself. I love this team right now. We just hired Lovie Smith & a GM that has a decent resume and the best part is that they seem to know WTF they are talking about. We have several coordinators and position coaches that have extensive experience, not only coaching, but playing the game at this level. I love the fact that we hired Hardy Nickerson as a coach to our young LBs. I love the fact that we have a bunch of studs at the RB position. I love the fact that the Bucs' defense (McCoy, Revis, David, and Barron) emulates its defense from our glory years (Sapp, Brooks, Barber, Lynch). I love the fact that we have an entire off-season ahead of us to fix our offense (and maybe adding a piece or two to our defense). I love the fact that we have owners that truly care about this team. I love that there is finally some true excitement around this team for the right reasons.So, maybe there are a few problems and question marks that the previous regime has left behind. I know I can count on Coach Smith to take care of everything the right way.
