Hey guys, just got back from the future to tell you how the draft goes down.
**SPOILER ALERT**
1 CLE QB Sam Darnold
*After today's pro day this pick has been solidified. Owner Jimmy Haslem doesn't sit in the rain with Darnold's parents at his pro day unless he's planning on drafting him at #1. My two cents: Darnold will bust and Mayfield will be the one who got away.
2 BUF(NYG) QB Josh Allen
*Gettleman is making the Bills sweat it out until the last second. The more desperate they are, the more the Giants get in return.
3 NYJ(IND) QB Josh Rosen
*Rosen is the most pro ready QB of the bunch. Gets the ball out quick, doesn't turn it over excessively. Cocky, maybe even arrogant, but isn't that the perfect type of QB for the Jersey Jets?
4 DEN(CLE) QB Baker Mayfield
*Denver watches 3 QBs go 1, 2, 3. With the Cardinals and Dolphins salivating for a trade up to #4 scenario, Denver moves up one spot, ensuring that no other team can trade up for Baker. CLE adds a late round pick and still gets the guy they wanted.
5 CLE(DEN) RB Saquan Barkley
*Not much analysis needed here.
6 IND(NYJ) DE Bradley Chubb
*Much to the dismay of Bucs fans, Chubb comes off the board at 6. But no need to fret as their is still a generational talent available for the taking.
7 TB G Quinton Nelson
*OL will never be a sexy pick, but this is about as close as it gets. The way Nelson has been hyped you'd assume they're already fitting him for a gold jacket, and he's worth every bit of the hype. A 10+ year anchor for Winston and this offense at the LG position. And who knows, maybe at some point they will try and play him at center for one obscure season...
R2 DE Rasheem Green
*Highly underrated. 10 sacks last season for USC. Great against the run and just starting to put together his impressive pass rush potential. Prototypical Buckner guy. Versatile. Can kick inside next to McCoy on passing downs with Spence and Curry off the edge. Rotational player year one, 3 down base end going forward.
R2 RB Nick Chubb
*Trading up from the 3rd round costs our 5th and a 7th. Chubb has become the forgotten back in this class with the rise of Barkley, Guice, Michel, Jones and Penny. I think he will slide out of the top 50 as teams will medical red flag him over the knee injury 2 years ago. We will move in on him late in the 2nd. I personally have him ahead of Michel and Jones. Behind Barkley and even with Guice.
R4 DT RJ McIntosh
*Natural 3 technique. Huge upside with the right coaching. Awesome value pick. Backup to GMac with upside to hold the fort when 93 shuts it down. Buckner will certainly come in handy with these rookie DLmen.
R6 RB Bo Scarborough
*Floor would be special teamer, short yardage back. Ceiling is a Derrick Henry caliber back. His lack of pass catching ability as well as durability concerns will cause him to plummet. I believe he could be Legarette Blount 2.0 if he can protect himself and stay healthy.
R7 WR Daeshon Hamilton
*Bucs have been linked to Hamilton, having put him through a private workout. Could be a staple on the special teams unit much like Russell Shepard used to be. As a 5th receiver, I like him over Bobo. Has potential to be a solid option in the passing game in a Humphries role.
Oh and we end up signing CB EJ Gaines this Saturday.
