Usually by this time someone has consolidated all of the mock drafts to one thread. Maybe this could be it?
What makes this draft special for the Buccaneers, and different from our previous years, is that there is no desperate need. It's not like previous years where you go in knowing you have to land certain positions. If a rookie wins the starting job in training camp, great, but we have an opportunity to draft players for depth and to draft players to groom. Unlike years in the past our current starting roster, before the draft has 22 Starting quality players. So my mock draft is based on value and depth.
1. Corey Davis - the likelihood that DJax lasts all season is slim to none, and behind him there is nothing for an outside threat. Elite WR's, unlike RB's, are much more rare and carry the value of a first round pick.
2. Budda Baker - Most mocks I've seen have Baker falling to the end of rd 2 so I think this is a realistic spot...rd 1 is a bit of a reach for an undersized Saftey.
3. Jalen Tabor - I don't even like the Gators....but I love the kids swagger. Grimes replacement, the next Ronde, or the new honey badger. That's Mike Smith's job to figure out. But I want him on my team. Last year Amari Cooper was asked about VH3....he said......it's the other guy I worried about.
4. Samaje Perine - Short yardage, early downs, goal line, and enough wiggle and burst to turn 3 and 7...into 3 and 2. Say good by to Martin.
5. Keionta Davis, DE, UT-Chattanooga
Height: 6-3. Weight: 274. Arm: 33.13. Hand: 9.
Projected 40 Time: 4.89.
Projected Round (2017): 4-6.
Over the past two seasons, Davis was one of the most consistent pass-rushers in college football, and that earned him an invitation to the Senior Bowl, where he had a decent week. Davis has versatile size to be an edge defender in a 4-3 or 3-4 defense.
Davis totaled 10.5 sacks with 44 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, seven passes batted and three forced fumbles in 2016. He produced even more pass rush as a junior with 13.5 sacks, 39 tackles, 17 for a loss, six passes broken up and a forced fumble. He also had four forced fumbles as a sophomore.all around great prospect for a late round pick. Looks the part, has bend, stout against the run, and can rush the passer.
6. Jermaine Eluemunor, OT, Texas A&M
Height: 6-4. Weight: 332. Arms: 33.25.
40 Time: 5.22. Projected Round (2017): 4-6.
Eluemunor is a big blocker who was inconsistent in 2016 as the Aggies' offensive line really struggled to protect quarterback Trevor Knight. Eluemunor did show strength as a right tackle in the ground game. He has a nice skill set with size, strength and athleticism; however, he is inexperienced and raw. That isn't surprising as Eluemunor started late in football after growing up in the United Kingdom. He is a project as he needs a lot of coaching on technique.
7 Matt Breida - out jumped, and about out ran everyone at the combine. For the RB class he is 1st in broad, 1st in vert, and 2nd in 40...Speed, vision, burst, production...this is the steal of the draft. Jumped over 42 vert at his pro day....Charles Sims who?
