This is where the pessimism of our fans loses me.
yep
But a trade and free agency help is the answer for defense this year.
If that type of help doesn’t come, we’ll be seeing a complete overhaul next offseason.
This is part of why I said "neither" to climbing or descending.
Say whatever anyone will about Bowles, but its the owners that have the Bucs in this unusual position. The owners must be behind that dead cap clearing over talent on the filed approach that has dominated this stretch and they are certainly behind the "half measure" of firing everyone but Bowles. It might work, but if it does not then what? If they used 2026 to "trade and free agency" that would have done so for a HC and a defense that would no longer be here,
Does Licht and Bowles have the capability to bring in players either through the draft or free agency that will make the Bucs a "long playoff" team?

Of course they do. I would say Tampa is one of the more attractive places for free agents to sign.

Aside from things like lifestyle and taxes, I dont know how that could be true. Isn't Crosby about to show why? He has reportedly said he wants to go to "a winner." Whatever one thinks of the Bucs chances next season, I doubt most outsiders would say the Bucs currently fit the "winner" mold given the obvious uncertainty at HC, aging super stars etc.
@bucsbits Tampa is attractive to FA for the players who are on the team. Not just the state tax and the franchise. The players on the team in Tampa are attractive to outside players.
SB caliber offense with the right offensive minded HC. Without that this team will be a .500 club at best.

Agree 100%. .500 club during the past four years under the current HC/DC: 8-9 9-8 10-7 8-9 1-3 playoffs total 36-36. Yep .500. Math works.

I call. Since Tom left which free agents were knocking down our doors? I'll hang up and listen. Thanks

If LVD and Evans retire the Bucs can go out and spend money in free agency but it ends up a wash at best. .500 is the best you see with this club.

Other way around. Since Tom left we've been paying for Tom and his SB winning pals. Not too bad a deal.

Baker Mayfield, maybe you've heard of him...

What cap space have they had to sign big name free agents? Last couple years have been navigating the tax man after going all in 20' and 21'...

we dont necessarily have a great track record of signing free agents either tho. Reference Reddick.
need to really build through the draft and add key pieces through trade or free agency
Since 2020 Tampa has had two of the top 10 FA signings. So I am not sure where the sentiment is, outside of trolling, that Tampa isn't a place FA players want to play.
FA are FA for a reason. It's a gamble by nature.
