i mean dont get me wrong, if Monken has opportunities with already proven relativity young QBs, he may choose that path as that would be a 1-2 year project to be head coach elsewhere.
but just saying given Bowles atrocious first year - taking a superbowl favorite (2nd only to Buffalo) prior to the season to a losing season; yeah he's on the hot seat
and to be honest, we want an offensive mind as head coach in todays NFL. Other than Buffalo, the results are pretty clear on the last 8 teams remaining this year
1. Chiefs
2. Eagles
3. 49ers
4. Cincy
5. Dallas
6. Giants
7. Jaguars
The silence on the OC search is deafening. This tells me that no coach regardless of status and experience is coming to work with Bowles. It would have been best if Bowles were let go. They will end up with a puppet coach who will fail the organization and fan base.
actually the Bucs are probably waiting to make a decision and i think Brady's decision played a factor on how they will proceed.
i hope they go with an experienced play caller; a bit snake bitten by Leftwich (without Arians' guidance)
I didn't see all those guys going on an NFL tour of all the cities that needed an OC. Let me give you a little insight into how the hiring process works. Stage 1: Interview candidates. Stage 2: In the privacy of your own offices, you discuss the candidates and make a choice. Stage 3: Bring in somebody for a 2nd interview, discuss contract. Stage 4: Hire.
Right now, they are in stage 2. Cameras and microphones not present. Any questions?
Monken to interview a 2nd time with the Ravens.
The “right coordinator” will be the one who is highly inexperienced and would never be able to threaten Bowles’ job. Expect bargain basement quality I.e. the guy from the Bengals. Never called a play, never ran an offense, never game planned. Yep, he’s our guy. Bowles would NEVER hire Monken. Too much of a threat because he is outstanding at what he does. The Bucs will rue the day they kept Bowles.

Well, Negative Nelly, who pissed in your cornflakes? Bowles is not hiring the OC, Licht is.
"fans" that go right to attacking a coaches integrity
Of course Licht is going to collaborate on the hire and find somebody Bowles can live with. He's not just going to do whatever he wants. But in the end it's Licht making the final call IMO about the hire and about the hire's contract. As these posters have pointed out, if Bowles hires the guy and they both get blown out after a year or less then what good is that? You have to hit reset on the defense and the offense. If Licht hires the guy, then if Bowles needs to go they won't necessarily have to clean house on the offense too. Bowles is not in a position to demand total say in this. He's lucky he still has a job. If he has any sense he'll be happy to take on that arrangement if it means getting a higher quality OC.
No sane experienced OC will come here, we will get a young guy wanting a promotion. I guess the upside is we could get a young up and comer with innovative ways. The downside is everybody on this staff is gonna get fired next year lol.

That's not necessarily a bad thing.
Hired by Ravens
I mean. Let’s see. Coach for a franchise that makes playoffs every year, drafts well, and has top 10 QB in the league
or play for a franchise than before Brady hasn’t made playoffs in a decade, lame duck coach, team looking to tank in 2023 (Brady cap hit, rolling with trask, gabbert) likely cutting some vets like fournette, don smith, brate, maybe gage.
I think 2024 we will be a much better destination with hopefully a top pick, still key talented pieces from superbowl team, and new offensive minded coach
For 2023, they aren’t going to get a good coordinator
Monken to Baltimore is an odd pairing to me, but I’m sure he’ll make it work. He’s really good.
I’m just glad he is out of Athens.

why would a free agent sign, re-sign, a decent OC take the job? team is broken and the best thing would have been to keep Leftwich, work out fixing the OL, and get on with 2024...rip off the bandaid. Start over.
