Monte Kiffin serves as unofficial consultant with JaguarsPosted by Mike Florio on January 23, 2016, 8:02 PM ESTZz0Xzteyzdhhmwq2Mzyzn2U4Mzllnzq1Yzrkngi5Njcxnq E1453597243701Long-time NFL defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin presumably faded from view when the Cowboys didn’t renew his contract a year ago. But Kiffin quietly has been helping a guy Kiffin hired in Tampa 10 years ago.The 75-year-old Kiffin, via Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union, has been working as an unofficial consultant to the Jaguars. Stellino writes that Kiffin visited training camp in July, and that Kiffin helped the Jaguars search for a new defensive coordinator. Bradley eventually promoted defensive line coach Todd Walsh into the job.“Monte and I, there’s a deep level of trust [in the] relationship that we have,” Bradley said, via Stellino. ““I know he has a track record of hiring very, very good defensive personnel. Mike Tomlin, Lovie Smith, Herm Edwards — the list goes on.”Kiffin actually was in the building during the process, meeting with Bradley as he made a decision. He was scheduled to leave on Saturday.Although Bradley won’t be in a lame-duck season, his one-year extension hardly constitutes job security. He’ll need all the help he can get from Kiffin and anyone else to get the Jaguars moving in the right direction after three sluggish seasons during which owner Shad Khan has been far more patient than most owners would be.
