Rewatching the game tape now with McCown and co. Sure McCown had some bad throws and held the ball too long too many times. And yes, the offensive line looked pretty bad. But the worst thing I saw is the play calling. Absolutely terrible. Nearly every time Martin carried there were 8 or even 9 defenders in the box. Why in the blue hell would McCown run the play if there are that many defenders in the box? The Jags knew every time we wanted to run and they were on top of it. So why wouldn't McCown call an audible? I just don't get that. If you are starting QB and you see that your RB is about to get blown up why would you run the play anyway. I noticed as soon as Glennon came in he started calling out the defense and making the necessary adjustments, something McCown failed to do. And it's hard to just blame McCown. There was a 3rd and 5 late in the first quarter where we had a chance to get near field goal range with a first down. As I watch the replay I see 5 receivers on the field and every single one wound up in the middle of the field where all the defenders were. How was that play supposed to work? How can anyone get open if you purposely create a huge clusterfukk in the middle of the field. I hope this isn't indicative of Tedford's playcalling, because if it is, that would be an even bigger problem than our interior offensive line.
