Use free agency to fill holes in the starting lineup so we are not forced to draft certain positions on day 2.  I say day 2 because after rounds 2- 4 I wouldn't count on getting prospects with starter potential. Every now and then it happens but I wouldn't count on it.  So that gives us more needs than draft picks to begin with.  Plus there are no guarantees when it comes to draft picks actually panning out.  After QB, which will be addressed in the first round, I think most here would agree our biggest needs would be at OT, OG, DE, MLB, and S.  I'm already pretty nervous about there still being a OT worth taking  at 34 so that might not be an option.  OG would be but I don't believe we need to use the 2nd rounder on that position.  3rd and even the 4th would be much better value.  After the first round talent, I don't see any of the DE prospects being anything more than rotational guys.  The Safety class is pretty weaksauce  as well.  We could definitely get a MLB but looking at where better prospects have gone in previous drafts, none of these guys seem worthy of going top of the 2nd.  Seem more like late 2nd to 3rd rounders to me.  So basically, Im not calling for us to sign high priced superstars. No need to go all in.  Just sign some vets at these key positions to give us flexibility in the draft and some safeguards in case they don't pan out or need a year or two.  WE DO NOT WANT TO REACH FOR CERTAIN POSITIONS IN THE DRAFT LIKE DOM WAS CONSTANTLY DOING.  Take BPA.  Look at previous drafts.  Very few 2nd rounders become above average players.  Over half would be considered bust.  3rd and 4th rounds are even worse.  The odds are already against us.  Don't let position influence your decision and decrease those odds even more.
