I like how all the fans say pay someone with experience, when the fans don't spend their $$ how can they tell the owners what to do with theirs?
When it comes to selling a product you have to show people why they should spend. Tell me, why should fans spend on this?

This is exactly right. The market dictates the direction of the business... in all avenues of economics. If the product isn't good, the public doesn't buy. If the public doesn't buy, it's up to the company to invest in resources to make the product worth buying. That's common sense.
No to both Smith and Polian. Do you guys remember how bad that Colts team was without Manning? Polian had how many years to stock that team with talent and not have to worry about the QB position?
"Um, they would be Raiders East, not West."Really, really far west.
SF's guy available? Back the Brinks truck up! Oh wait, it is the Glazers. They are cheap. We're Raiders west folks.
Um, they would be Raiders East, not West.
Yes, we would be the Raiders EAST not west. I was thinking Raiders out west when typing. Geographic dyslexia. Thanks for the correction.

LOL... yeah, because every team has great success when their future H.O.F. starter misses a whole season.

There is a vast difference between great success and the product they were putting on the field. Without Brady, Pats still won 11 games. Without Rogers, Packers at least made it interesting. Without Manning, Colts were the worst team in the NFL.

Tampa market has just a horrid fan base. The Glazers may be giving us what we deserve, they put a winner on the field in 2010, no sell outs. In 2012 team couldn't even hit the 85% mark to get the games on TV and they were a playoff contender and played exciting football. I agree with your statement, but owners and businessmen have got to know their market as well. The Bucs will NEVER be a national team, they will never have the appeal of a Steelers, Cowboys, or Giants, not only do they lack the tradition of those teams (Thanks Culverhouse) but it takes winning consistently to grab a hold of the casual or fringe fan in this market. It's just how this city is, heck even when they win no one cares. So from a business standpoint what is the Glazer's motivation to spend or make sweeping changes and eat a bad coach's contract? Whatever moves they make won't catch the attention of a fan base on life support. Yes, you have to spend money to make money, but the money they are putting it is not getting the desired results on the field or in the stands. So nothing will change with the coach or the fans.
Owning the Bucs has been a great investment for the Glazers. Improving the Bucs is completely different though, it has provided poor return on investment.

How do you explain all those years from 98-08? Combine the economic troubles with the firing of a very popular Gruden followed by Raheem and here you are...the Glazers have made bad bad hires. As a result, the product has suffered. What do you expect?

What you're seeing is the difference between Jim Caldwell... Bill Belichick and Mike McCarthy. That should be obvious based on who those coaches have, or had, at QB.

But when you take that QB out of the picture and the team completely collapses that shows me a poor job done by the GM. Colts must have agreed considering Polian was relieved of his duties.

No it doesn't. It shows the faith the team has in it's head coach. You know, it's kind of what happened here not too long ago.

The market has changed, in the late 90's early 2000's the NFL ticket or redzone weren't around (or weren't as prominent) to give the transplanted Northeasterners access to follow their old teams. So where in the Bucs hey day they played infront of packed houses and mostly pro Bucs crowds now those casual or fringe fans are staying home and following their old team. The last playoff game the Bucs hosted the Giants fans outnumbered the bucs fans greatly and the game was nearly almost blacked out! That's how bad this fanbase is.I think there are a few other factors that play in to the dwindling fanbase as well. The Glazers perceived lack of spending for a number of years, Gruden's up and down tenure (good one year bad the next) and the consecutive years in a row where the Bucs continued to raise ticket prices. All those factors are on ownership. But I think the Glazer boys know this market, they can spend and spend but unless the team is 12-4 or 14-2 every year the fans will keep their wallets closed. It sucks for us die hards, but it's the reality of this market.

So then why did they fire Polian? I am with you that Caldwell is not on the same level as Belichick and McCarthy. But I cannot look at what Polian built in Indy and say he is a fit for our job when there isnt a P. Manning for him to draft.
