Canales ran Godwin outside a lot until later in the season
The new OC wants to bring Godwin back inside in the F receiver position (think Kupp) as the guy the offense runs through (think Arians)
“you got a guy like Chris that I really think can be really dynamic on the inside – that’s where I envision him playing, more on the inside playing that F position that ultimately Cooper [Kupp] played. A lot of this lot of things do run through that [F receiver]. So I’m excited about him.”
AND SPEAKING ABOUT BUNCH FORMATION TO GET BETTER RELEASES
”That’s something that was asked a lot, and we had to do in L.A. a ton because that offense ran through Coop (Cooper Kupp),” Coen said.
Wow almost like he spent more time actually studying players and not cheating on his wife and doing drugs.
Damn, I dont even KNOW X's or O's but even I called this a few days ago and even just earlier today with The Baker and Mahomes fan, who, btw has been a class act as a contributor here...even as a self-proclaimed Baller follower/lurker. Listen the Bucs are mI team, But Ill join U in lurking Baller if the worst happens and they cant work something out. I hope whatever his fUture holds, its surrounded by people that are RIDE OR DIE, ie real ones that will support him regardless of what the rest of the world says, thinks, or does...middle fingers to the sky. U know Fk Fate mentality, Bend Fate through sheer will kind of people.

wow
Huge Canales fan but one of his biggest mistakes was thinking of Godwin as a true outside receiver. To his credit though, he adjusted.
Need better interior OL, need a better 2 way TE, another boundary WR and another RB to pair with White and the Bucs offense is good to go for Coen.

I think Palmer can be the other outside guy, Hes ANOTHER Deep Threat. If you double Chris and Mike, Throw a few Bowbs to Palmer and that will "soften'n'up" Cant Double everyone. Mike evans on one side, Palmer as number 2 on the other side, and Chris is the glue in the middle. Thats how I would "unleash" it thematically.

Coen spoke glowingly about the five-time Pro Bowl receiver, who he believes can thrive in the bunch formations he’ll bring to Tampa Bay.
“Mike, obviously being the size that he is, his ability to be able to track the football down the field, but also his ability to be able to get in and out of cuts at that size,” Coen said. “To be able to put him inside a little bit more. To be able to run some of those option routes and choice routes on the inside. Man, I think that’s a winning edge, and something that we’d like to be able to utilize.”
Should he remain in Tampa Bay in free agency, wide receiver Mike Evans will continue to be the featured weapon in Liam Coen’s passing game. If Evans stays healthy for 17 games, an 11th-straight season with 1,000 yards receiving seems all but certain in 2024 if he’s back with the Bucs.
That's usually the case with true #1 WR's.
The ones the offense flows through.
It took time to develop Godwin into who he is today - it also took a commitment from Godwin to want to develop the WR2 interior game. He had the frame, and it made him better. He doesn’t have a lot speed, but it’s adequate. He also runs good routes, which sets him apart. Not sure he could flourish as WR1, but if anyone can, Godwin can…for awhile.
Palmer isn’t there yet, too much inconsistency, not a great frame, but he has great speed. Dave Moore looks like he could become that underneath guy too, but he needs more time the way Arians used Godwin early-on. Not sure he is a long term answer.
its a deep draft for WR’s, so I’m hedging we land a take-the-top off the defense guy that will make use of what Mike & Chris do MOST games…occupy defenders and opening up some shots downfield. No one in the league is as smart as ME at getting open when it counts. JL’s gotta figure a way to sign Mike Evans.

We already have that with Palmer.

we just need one thing… moar.
…cuz if you lose Mike…

If we lose Mike, then we have no WR1 and it'll be the biggest priority in the draft.
If not, WR is not even close to a priority.
Re-signing Mike certainly changes the priorities...but not by much.
Interior linemen, a center, and a TE climb the chart...but not sure if those are more important the a Corner or edge DE. Our pick aligns with finding a quality Corner...don't think we'll find a center at our current position. It will be interesting.

SMH that was a low blow dude.
