There are some good tweaks and some not so good tweaks. I do like seeing how many posts a member has shared with the board. There is a huge problem on the message board with the new platform... posts are no longer segregated (grouped) into smaller batches in the form of comments per pages. This means every thread post is one page as opposed to being segregated into smaller amount of comments per page.
In the old platform, one thread post can have two comments and be one page; on another thread post, it can have over 1700 comments and be 113 pages. It is easier to compile (run a program/function) the thread post when there a lot of comments to be segregated into separate pages because you do not need to read the first page or pages when you are searching for the last page of that thread post.
In this new platform, that segregation (grouping) of a certain amount of comments into separate pages no longer exists. Now, if you look at the longest thread post comments, "Covid cases just beginning", has well over 1700 comments all on one page. This thread post started in July and continues on until today, December. The conversation evolves daily. It is not easy to pick up where one left off reading. Similarly, this can be applied to Game Day Threads (GDT). GDT's are slow to start with pre-game comments days before the game and picks up exponentially when the game is played. When you refresh the page, you will have to wait for the page to compile all the old comments and the new comments you have not seen. This takes time to do. The more comments there are, then the longer the compiling rate. Also, you will always start with the first comment in the thread post. Which means you will have to scroll to find where you left off in your comment.
The comment section of only one page may be perfect on the main page of Pewter Report as the comments section rarely exceeds comments that often requires pages like on the message boards. This platform bogs down the message board thread posts once comments increase and continues to increase. For the thread post "Playoff picture UPDATED", there are 47 posts. In the old platform, it created three pages, iirc. That would probably mean there is a max of 20 comments per page, which makes it easier to follow. To get the most updated playoff picture, we need to just go to the last page. Now, we have to wait for it to compile and scroll all the way down.
Maybe Pewter Report isn't done transitioning its platform migration (changing to a new format). Or Maybe PR can ask the vendor to make an alteration to create a code to segregate comments into pages once the comments count goes above 20 comments made.
Are there any other comments y'all have on the new platform, both likes or dislikes?
