Lol - someone wake up Jdub.. This could be epic. :)Like the new uniform overall... I too don't know about the 'digital' numbers... It cheapens the overall look.I'm certain the colors are a bit lighter without that black background darkening the uniform.
The "Digtal" numbers is actually the new pirate font outlined with reflect able chrome. Kinda cool when you say it like that, lol. But someone on Twitter made a good point. Every team is going to start going through this changes as the NFL changes to a more independent look per team. Similar to the Jags, Seahawks, Dolphins and now the Bucs.
+1people generally dislike change, but if you see the uniform as part of an overall strategy, both for the team and the league, its actually pretty cool
So...either you like the new unis, or you just aren't very apt to change?
lol, nice strawman. No, but GENERALLY people dislike change. It's human nature and, as shocking as it sounds . . .. hard core fans and "purists" like change the least
Not quite a strawman, just a question. Can that be said of younger people now days, that they "generally" dislike change?I would disagree about the hardcore fans. I think the homers and "leg-jumpers" will get a stiffy at anything the franchise churns out and will be right there to catch every drop, so to speak. :)
lol
I like it! All the new unis will look like this. I know, change is hard.
They wont have stupid orange in them tho. We're forever haunted by the horrible orange chosen in the orriginal uni's. We should have moved completely away from that.
If they just fix the numbers to something else that would fix a lot of the problem.
Lol. Only the Bucs can fail SO hard. I'll wait to see them in person before I make my verdict, but my initial reaction is that these are **CENSORED**ing horrible and the numbers look like they came straight off a 1980's alarm clock. My biggest WTF? about this, is why on Earth would you release a sh!tty amatuer photoshop version two days before the actual release?
for what its worth, Its not the picture, its the PROGRAMMING . . you cant release a photo on the Internet that is magically calibrated to every different monitor in the world. Just pull up the picture from the Bucs site (the link is on the first page) and then compare it to the reused picture in the PR article. Same picture, but big difference. its the platform and the monitors . . that is why designers disclaim color and why printers still rely on Pantone etc..
My question is this: as soon as the picture comes out, the first thing they have to say is, "Well, they are pewter, not black."Who in the fuck approved a picture taken in bad lighting on purpose? Maybe they're doing it just to get people talking and then they reveal the "better" pictures later on and everyone expresses their relief? It's a more complex advertising strategy, but I suppose it has some merit. It's just very odd that they didn't take pictures of the uniforms outside, in the sun.

lol
Buggsy has the site programmed to notify him anytime the word "homer" or "leg humper" (in this case "leg jumper") is used . . . its a common put down
I don't totally loathe it, but the numbers are not good, and honestly think it's a step-down from the old ones. And I did like the helmet change. Still would like to see more angles before being definitive. Vin, ManU not a good comp for tons of reasons.
In the original release information, it says the font for the numbers comes from original buccaneer wood cuttings or something...Were old fashioned buccaneer pirates already using digital alarm clocks or were they out robbing people for their 1980s calculator watches?Maybe these unis will help us generate pass rush, as the opposing teams offensive line will be too busy laughing/sh!t talking our unis.Mostly it is the numbers, but I hope these look a lot better in live action than that crappy released pic. I agree JDub, whether the new unis end up looking better or not, the handling of this release online was a definite fumble.
I think this "people dislike change" argument is hilarious. Something looks great or it doesn't. It has nothing to do with people rejecting any change. If this new uni is done well and a major upgrade, it will be viewed as that and it will sell like hot cakes. If it continues to trend on the internet as a complete failure, then it will not sell and make us a butt of jokes and we will have a new uniforms next year. The fear of change argument is just an excuse for a poorly executed design.

only a guess, but the black background choice may be intended to highlight the difference. On my monitor the color of the uni is much more brown than black, but then again on my monitor the helmet never looked black either. Television might be better
I like the jerseys overall, and don't mind the numbers. The only part I hate is having "Bucs" on the left sleeve. Maybe it's my OCD, but I think both sleeves should look the same (with the pirate ship patch).

That has zero to do with it imo. It's an obvious photoshop. Not even a good photoshop. It looks stupid. Why not introduce it to the world with an actual picture of the actual uni like every other team? It's just another failure of the Bucs advertising dept.

Oh, I agree there are many differences and I noted the caveat on success and I understand that ManU brand and Bucs brand value incredibly different, but then again so are Buc and Manu fans. ManU message boards were loaded with hate on any change to the unis . . . . it still worked. My only point was that the starting point for humans is resistance to change and that purists are the most strident. That said, I agree the two teams are very different

You know, you're totally right and that's why it's annoying me so much. This isn't a picture at all, it's a fucking drawing.
Food for thought. Sapp mentioned #FIRE so does this mean new uni's are #FLAMMABLE ?
