Today, March 15th is the start of the league year and the Saints still need to get within the Cap before the end of the day…

- The Saints have their own cap situation to figure out.
Cap Space: -$494,694
- The Falcons signed Heineken from the Commanders and are debating starting Desmond Ridder at quarterback.
• Cap Space: $39,906,065
- The Panthers coaching staff has many new additions.
Cap Space: $17,728,346
BUCCANEERS
• Current Cap Space: $2,996,203
• Cutting Leonard, Brate, and Succop: $8,750,580
• Restructuring Evans and Barrett: $11,500,000 + $9,813,750 ($21,313,750)
• Extending White: $2,206,000
•• Total Savings: $33,019,000
••• Add current cap space: $36,218,000
• Extending Wirfs add: $1,742,914
•• FINAL: $37,960,914 cap space

- We BETTER are-sign Lavonte David.. we have the means… extending White does is minimal. Keeping David is invaluable.
- Wirfs will be looking for totals $112.5 million, which would be the second-most ever for an offensive tackle behind only Trent Williams. The Bucs already owe him $2,822,914 in salary for 2023, so the overall contract setup will be for six years and just over $115 million. The extension would allow the Bucs to reduce Wirfs’ salary in 2023 to $1,080,000 while paying him out a modest $18 million signing bonus. His cap hit would raise from $5,163,464 to $7,020,550. His cap hits would exceed $20 million from 2024 on, but also give the Bucs the flexibility to restructure each of those years to help give the team more room depending on need.

Brady 2.8

Davis 2.7 (When we restructured did this change?)

Evans 2.6

Mason 1 (GONE)

Julio 0.9

OTHER NOTABLE PIECES for our BUCS

• I think the reason we haven’t cut Fournette yet is perhaps we’re hoping to be able to use him as part of a potential trade package?
-$8,470,588 (Cap number this year)

- $5,470,588 saved if traded pre-June 1

- $6,970,588 saved if traded post-June 1

- $3,000,000 if cut

• Likewise, if we were also somehow able to use Cameron Brate as part of a trade package…

-$4,985,000 (Cap number this year)

-$4,000,000

BUCCANEERS
• Current Cap Space: $2,996,203
• Cutting Leonard, Brate, and Succop: $8,750,580 (Pre-June 1 Cut #’s)
• Restructuring Evans and Barrett: $11,500,000 + $9,813,750 ($21,313,750)
• Extending White: $2,206,000
•• Total Savings: $33,019,000
••• Add current cap space: $36,218,000
• Extending Wirfs add: $1,742,914
•• FINAL: $37,960,914 cap space

I believe we have to have $9-10M to sign the draft picks so if we did all of the above we’d have $27M in cap to spend this year…

Buc Free Agents to spend hypothetical $27M
1) Lavonte David
2) William Gholston
3) Sean Murphy-Bunting
4) Mike Edwards
5) Blaine Gabbert?
6) Pat O’Connor
7) Keanu Neal
8) Carl Nassib
9) Logan Ryan
10) Scotty Miller??

Good as gone:
-Perriman
-Avery
-Rudolph
-Wells
-bennard
-Senat
-Anthony Nelson
-Gill
-Akiem Hicks
- Julio Jones

LOL! That aged QUICKLY!

"Pass rusher Anthony Nelson plans to re-sign with the #Bucs on a two-year deal worth $11M, up to $13M max value, per sources. Nelson has a combined 10.5 sacks the last two seasons."

"Nelson’s 5.5 sacks were tied for second most on the Bucs last season with Devin White, and were the most among outside linebackers. Nelson got to start eight games last season and recorded 3.5 sacks in that time. His three forced fumbles on the year led all Bucs defenders."

"Nelson may get the chance to start at the beginning of the season with Barrett returning from an achilles injury either starting outside linebacker or at least the top edge rusher you can count on until Barrett is fully ready to go."

would have to think Saints are favored

Panthers will draft a QB first overall so will have some growing pains

Falcons will have growing pains with whoever they have at QB

We have Trask and Baker which will also have growing pains

to me it's the Saints and everyone else

but the Saints still have a ceiling of probably 9-10 wins which has been Carr his entire career

IMHO noone will take control, could be simmilar to what we had last year, division will be a mess and since our schedule is fine we're going to win some games. very little chance for winning it though!
