I have become a bit fixated with graham barton guard from duke at 26 and zach frazier center from wvu in 2nd round. I feel like they are surefire safe solid players and would solidify our line across the board. I have faith in mauch and goedeke getting better and better on the right side. Any thoughts on these draft choices? and if we did take these 2 picks, how would you finish out the rest of our draft rnds 3-7 ?
I love both those picks but we need to get an edge somewhere
I would be okay with it depending on who was on the board. You don't want to draft for need and end up with a bust when you can sure up one side of the ball for the next 5 years with 2 IOL high draft picks.
Its hard to find premier EDGE rushers in the third, I wouldn't even dare take someone unless he had tools.
I like them both, but we have too many other needs to take both. We need a corner in the first or 2nd round.

If Bowles keeps using zone the Bucs can use the extra high third to draft a boundary CB to develop behind Dean and McCollum.
Realistically the Bucs first two picks are going to be either interior OL or edge rusher. I have always leaned toward the first round pick being edge because there will be a drop off if the Bucs wait till the late 2nd. Meanwhile the quality of interior OL in the late 2nd round is till very good. But if the team like Barton they might decided to trade down from the firs round a bit and still take him and then trade up for an edge rusher at the top of the 2nd round.

While it might not mean anything, the Bucs only formally interviewed one center at the combine and that was JPJ (this was from the formal interview tracker). Now, they did formally interview Offensive Lineman more than any other area:
Oregon C Jackson Powers-Johnson
Duke OL Graham Barton
Kansas OT Dominick Puni
Arizona OT Jordan Morgan
Oregon State OL Taliese Fuaga
Notre Dame OL Blake Fisher
Washington OL Troy Fautanu
UConn G Christian Haynes
Oklahoma OL Tyler Guyton
Kansas State G Cooper Beebe
But, I'd keep an eye on who they interviewed with CB and EDGE:
Georgia CB Kamari Lassiter
Kentucky CB Dru Phillips
Clemson CB Nate Wiggins
And...
UCLA EDGE Laiatu Latu
Penn State EDGE Adisa Isaac
Penn State EDGE Chop Robinson
Western Michigan EDGE Marshawn Kneeland
I'm high on Kneeland and think he'll be there in the 2nd, as will Isaac.
If Latu starts to fall, would you think Licht trades up (since we have the extra 3rd)?
Also, with a formal interview with Keon Coleman, I don't think WR is out of the question with our 2nd or one of our 3rd rounders.
Wouldn’t mind those two - just think CB will be best value - if we stay at #26 - especially one that fits with Bowles pressure package.
Would prefer an edge - but not sure if we’re going to be able to get one at #26 (although my fingers are crossed).
Do think trading down/out of #26, pick up some additional picks, and still get some quality at positions of need - is a real possibility, and something we have some history doing. Just depends on whether QB needy teams get hooked on one of the 2nd tier QB’s, or top WR’s, and who’s there when we pick.
This draft is going to be fun.
Yeah, I can see the Bucs trading up to get Latu with that extra third we got from DET. He's everything we are looking for on the edge. Still have a second and third to address iOL, and CB.Realistically the Bucs first two picks are going to be either interior OL or edge rusher. possible a C is coming in FA?

That’s my initial thought. Or, that they think with better LG play, Hainsey will be fine.
If we can't get the right edge rusher with the first pick I'd be tickled pink if we were able to get Jackson Powers-Johnson.

You wanted Whitehead, we got Whitehead.
I think you should post that you want all the best players we need!! Seems to work!

😉 LOL
Yeah we could definitely use a blue chip edge rusher, I am not convinced their are a lot of blue chip edge rushers outside of verse who may not fit our scheme and turner and laitu at 26..feel barton is safer pick at position of need at 26 . I believe the bucs and other teams are looking more into platooning the edge. Cant have enuff edge players. Is it possible we go into season with diaby, jts, nelson, watts, ramirez and a mid round draft pick et edge?? Here is an nfl draftbuzz simulator that I got
“Buccaneers want Oregon Center Jackson Powers-Johnson. Rumblings since prior to the Senior Bowl where he dominanted. A younger version of Ryan Jensen. With additional 3rd acquired in the Carlton Davis trade, might trade up in the 20s. Not ideal, but they clearly love the player.”
